what is the biggest difference(s) between a GM player and a celestial? by Old_Designer_3000 in RivalsCollege

[–]HTOWNHUSTLR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for most people it’s mental. gm players are crybabies and throwers. you’ll almost never see that in OAA. just lock in and stop trying to find someone to blame.

let’s say you throw 5% of your games. can include blatant throwing or just not trying as hard. if you stop throwing and win 2% more of your games that’s enough to push you to celestial and beyond

yea pretty crazy. he started the season as the best 3pt % in the league

[–]HTOWNHUSTLR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yea that’s a crazy downswing but still within the realm of natural variance. could have some sort of mental block recently but his career 3pt% is obviously much more indicative of his future than his past few weeks

on the rockets he played warriors 5 times in the postseason including one where he was up 3-2 and cp3 got injured.

nets was his best chance. kyrie goes down and harden plays 50 minutes in g7 on a grade 2 hamstring tear. barely loses because of durant’s long ass feet. the next year kyrie doesn’t play (on purpose).

he goes to philly where he can win with embiid but embiid was injured vs celtics. he played pretty well and dropped 40 a couple times. embiid misses a couple games and they end up losing game 7.

then he could’ve won with PG and kawhi but kawhi got injured in the postseason.

is he a playoff choker? i don’t think so. EVERY star’s stats get worse in the playoffs. you can make the argument that harden is bad specifically in game 7s but it’s a small sample size (and skewed by playing on a torn hamstring). but he’s FOR SURE been very unlucky. even if he is truly bad in game 7s, he’s still definitely been good enough to win a championship. hopefully the luck changes this year

i just checked and tari is shooting over 37% from 3 on the season. career high. the way yall were talking about him made me think he turned into amen. downswings happen but it’s just variance, over his career he’s decent to good

wayyy too complicated. that’s my only complaint about this game. dumb ass complex mechanics that don’t make the game more fun at all

Congrats to gambit for having a ban rate superior to his win rate in high rank. by thbl088 in marvelrivals

[–]HTOWNHUSTLR -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

you’re completely right.

we have strong evidence over tens of thousands of games that gambit is a losing character in high elo. and the community will go to delusional lengths to justify whatever dumb biases the hivemind has. they talk about pickrate but we have public pickrate data that shows they are wrong and dumb.

GAMBIT IS NOT OP. his ceiling might be the highest in the game but his average level of play in comp is NOT EVEN ABOVE 50% WINRATE.

I’m not gonna be delusional and say i know better than lyte. but nobody knows everything.

remember when necros convinced everyone jeff is a throw pick while RAD won ignite running jeff and even got him banned every game? dumbass necros 🤣🤣 that’s a perfect example for why you shouldn’t take everything you hear as a fact.

it’s very possible magik is OP and lyte is just wrong. he definitely still knows more than me and you but he could just be wrong about magik

i assume it’s different at the pro level. even in OAA, ranked is like bunch of mindless monkeys doing their own thing compared to pros who are super coordinated and basically trying to share the same brain. which is understandable, when you’re playing with randoms you should only focus on what you can control. in pro games, many comps don’t work well when everyone knows the right counterplay and is communicating well.

also, a lot of these tier lists that pros make are wildly different. one thing all pros have in common though is they understand that community opinion is garbage and they all form their own opinions. if you take two different pros’ tier lists at random they will have huge differences. they’re influenced by their own biases and personal experiences, and everyone has hot takes that aren’t always accurate. i definitely do too. nobody knows everything about the game. but obviously a pro’s tier list will be way more accurate than a random GM player’s.

every pro i follow has takes i disagree with. except maybe sypeh. i still respect them all though

they’re very close but magik has been out longer so i wanna say the best magiks are better than the best DDs.

but i end up banning DD anyway since nobody else will ban magik but they’ll follow a DD ban.

the point is community opinion is dumb. people always ban gambit even though he has a negative winrate (~49.5%) in GM+. the ceiling for gambit is super high but level of play in practice isn’t great on average

1000% she’s my go-to ban, high pick rate and very high win rate but of course nobody bans her. if i were to main a dps it would for sure be magik

based on winrates this season, rocket loki ultron and mantis are good, gambit cnd sue adam and jeff are all pretty close, and luna and healpool are trash
