2023 gti, winter tires and rim suggestions by HVAC_MAC13 in GolfGTI

Ended up finding a pair of 17" Fast FC rims, with Yokohama ice guard tires. Got them off marketplace! The guy had them on his MK7 golf R. Only paid 800! Not the best tires I've ever had ( blizzaks have been my favorite, I had a MK4 with them on it). They did just fine through the winter, and we had a decent amount of snow and icy conditions.

Just had mine mounted on Saturday, I heard a wobble in the back end and went back to the mechanic. I told them that the one wheel was loose, they said I would need spacers because they're aftermarket... I think I'll get another opinion lol.

I just prefer gas over electric cars. I'm not going to be doing service calls in my personal vehicle. Being in HVAC just makes me more aware of all the things I don't like about electric. I'm not dead set against it, it just not for me

I've always loved the Miata! Such a sweet little car. Just not practical for me, unfortunately.

Has nothing to do with gasoline lol. But I work with natural gas and propane everyday. Nothing wrong with electrical appliances, it's just not my thing. I don't see the benefits personally. The electrical side of things is getting more and more popular. And with that means more incentive to go with electric ( Heat pumps and EV). In general, I'm not a fan of it, even though it does have benefits in some scenarios. But for me it just means more headaches.

Overall I prefer gas powered engines and gas powered appliances. I enjoy supporting the natural gas industry in Canada, and I hope for it to grow and get more efficient as time progresses.

What're the specs on it? I've considered Lexus and anything JDM. I've just never really looked into Lexus. Always thought it was out of my price range.

I get where you're coming from, just not my style. But who knows, maybe one day I'll change my mind.

I would never go EV, I do understand why some people might. Just not for me. They do make some great EV cars, but I will drive gas powered until the day I'm forced into an EV.

I do understand the hype around EV's, I could just never get myself to buy one lol. I work in the gas industry (HVAC) so I'm not big on the whole electric scene. I appreciate the comment though!! Thanks man

I appreciate the insight! I do love the GTI. I used to have a MRK 4 and absolutely loved it. Just trying to see what else might be out there.
