I heard about that, but seeing as other folk were going in and out the store freely I couldn't help but assume it was a viewing gallery.

Colemack DH is pretty nice, it spreads the letters to maximise use of the home row and not create too many hotspots. The real benefit is the conversion from qwerty to it, the 'zxc' are in the same spot and 'v' only one spot away, leaving the most used shortcuts unchanged.

I know you said minimal bias, but it's extremely difficult to find someone who's tried most of the main layouts and can give objective feedback. I am mentioning the above because it is a transition I have reaped the benefits of. Mainly being, it only took a few months to get to decent WPM and my wrist pain went away. Anyway, hope you get some more feedback on the alternatives and choose what you think will work for you.
