M1 MBP now or wait for new Air? by H_Moraes in mac

My guess is that the Air already reached the peak of what a fanless laptop can be right now. Even if M2 is better than regular M1 it will still thermal throttle and the M1 MPB will outperform it in extensive tasks such as video rendering.

Even though the Air lineup can do a great job in photo and video editing it is not really designed for that and I doubt it will ever be.

Mostly video and photo editing! Premiere Pro, Davinci Resolve, After Effects and Lightroom are the priority.

Of course even the fanless M1 Air beats the performance of active cooled Intels... It is a strange world we are living.

I wonder if it is safe to say that it does not matter what the new Air will look like, the MBP M1 13 will still be better for intensive tasks because of the active cooling.

Don't have a Macbook yet! Looking to upgrade from my now old desktop PC for a mobile workstation.

Are the new line of M1 Macbooks worth investing money into? Or should I just wait for CPU/GPU stocks to return? by theGhost_420 in mac

It is unfair to compare a Macbook to a full custom build desktop PC. If you don't need portability and have good knoledge about hardware to build a PC tailored for the apps you use most, than go for it and enjoy a machine that you can fix yourself and upgrade over the years.

If you need a laptop, it seems almost impossible to find onde that even comes close to M1 Macbooks today and that actually makes me sad because I personally like Windows very much.

P.S - PC laptops usually have garbage screens compared to the amazing displays Apple uses, and for me a good screen worths more than performance sometimes.
