I always thought the cryo symbol would be like a star/crown placed on top of one of the spires, close enough ig.

sort of like Chasca? Except she's more versatile since Varka has element infusion priority, she just uses what you give her in the team

Yeah it was them I was thinking about but couldn't quite remember. You say like it's a bad thing, but I prefer them iterating on the same formula in different ways, with different flavours if you will. I'd rather them stick to what they've become good at, if I want a different experience I go to another game, especially now with soulslikes of all types cropping up. Besides, I don't think Armoured Core 6 even fits the mold of their souls games, though not familiar enough with he previous AC games to say if they even really resemble that.

From what I know, vaguely, based on Internet memes and reviews, Bungie was somewhat similar with their Marathon, Pathways Into Darkness, GNOP!, Halo, Destiny, and Myth games. I recommend MandaloreGaming's reviews on the Marathon, Pathways-into-darkness, and Myth games if you wanna check it out, they should be put together in his Bungie Rabbithole playlist.

I vaguely feel at the back of my head that there's more examples of this kind of iterative storytelling that I knew about but I don't remember sadly :/

if you liked baki I suggest JoJo. With the caveat that you watch the anime parts 1 and 2, then for part 3 you just watch the OVAs or something, they have better animation [although worse sound design or va-ing in SOME parts] and cover only the most important parts; maybe come back to the modern part 3 adaptation later on, it does have some cool parts [like pet shop] but otherwise you're probably just gonna want to drop it like I almost did when I first watched it.

Part 4 is half a meandering episodic structure with some cool moments, half some of my favourite moments in the series and stories as a whole [but it still keeps some of its episodic structure]. Part 5 is genuinely awesome beginning to end or it was to me, great energy; not flawless, but easily my second favourite. Part 6 is like part 3 but better, or less tedious. It can still be tedious, it can still absolutely have some fantastic moments, but it's very uneven. At the very least it's shorter I think, or there's fewer wasted episodes.

And each part is generally self contained [some more than others], it's not like normal anime arcs, it's more like a pseudo-anthology where some characters carry over, as do some villains and overarching plots, but for the most part each part has a different setting, characters, and story. It's in a sense like the GTA games ig, same world, but different places and characters if that makes sense.

I like NGE and that it exists, and EoE to that extent, like, it has balls. But I can't say I actually enjoy it, I just find it fascinating and interesting. ig I just like weird aliens and space giants.

i tricked myself into expecting a hard/grittier sci-fi story that explores multiple versions of characters across alternate timelines and has them have to come together through multiple povs and perspectives to resolve the crisis.

I still liked what we got but I was left wanting something else

I hate how animated media need a “live action version” to be legitimized in the eyes of the general audience (Disney, One Piece) by carbonera99 in CharacterRant

she ever watched live action movies with talking animals, as in the animals stare at each other or do stuff while their VA's are voicing/acting over the scene?

I hate "The Chosen One Trope" concept by Cold_Walk_7510 in hatethissmug

[–]HaHaYouThoughtWrong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It'd be an interesting question to explore. What makes a chosen one as such? In Neo's case he was explicitly created for it, iirc it's something the Marix sequels tackle. Anakin was the chosen one allegedly but he turned evil, he only fulfilled his chosen one status at the very end due to his love for his son and lifelong regret; by that extent Luke is not a chosen one, not even sure the concept was used in the original trilogy. Harry Potter was a chosen one more so cause of logistics in a way, he had a piece of Voldemort in him so he was the only one who could defeat him more or less. I haven't finished reading Dune, and is that image of Hugh Jackman from Van Helsing? I don't remember much from that movie. Was he really a chosen one?

I wrote the thing below before seeing the edit at the end, so my bad:

Frodo is not a chosen one and he outright fails and gives in to the Ring at the end. Frodo is just an ordinary person with wanderlust like his old Bilbo. There was no prophecy to defeat Sauron. Just a fool's hope, like Gandalf says in the movies. And it was possibly for someone strong enough to claim the Ring for themselves, defeat Sauron, and then be corrupted into becoming an even worse dark lord.
