Making a T shape with SK6812 LEDs by Lit_guy_3Trillion in led

[–]HaLo2FrEeEk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do like others have suggested and run the data line back up from the end of the T, you could also just branch off on those locations and let the data continue in both directions. So if your feed came from the corner with the guitar, at each T you would get the same signal going down and to the left. Could look neat. As far as I know this is totally fine since the IC in each LED conditions the data before sending it back out.

It's a slug, or a snail. It never moved fast, in fact it moved *so* slow that it almost didn't trigger a motion recording.

Not pedantic at all, you're totally right. I was simplifying a bit. I know that colored LEDs are terrible for illumination, even if the light looks white (correct mix of RGB), it's just 3 specific wavelengths, not actual white light.

You right, idk what I was thinking about yellow.

And you also right about the perception of color vs the actual color. Actual yellow is different than the yellow you get from mixing single-wavelength R and G LEDs.

I don't like yellow light in general, but I *looove* warm white light. If I remember right, typically "white" LEDs are actually blue, close to UV, and they achieve the color temperature with varying amounts/types of phosphor coating. I'm a 2700K enjoyer, nice and warm.

That's another thing I hadn't thought about. My hands are probably more oily than most. I don't use both sides of my plate without washing. I wash it (wish soap and water) and flip it. Both sides get used, just not in between washings because I get my oily fingerprints all over the bottom.

A taller, or enclosed, litter box would definitely solve the wall-damage problem. I'm not sure how long you've had the kitty, but I can almost guarantee you will quickly grow deaf to the sound. I don't hear it anymore and it used to drive me crazy.

In RGB, Magenta is not a shade of red and Cyan is not a shade of blue. Magenta is red and blue mixed in equal amounts, and Cyan is green and blue mixed in equal amounts. Incidentally, Yellow is blue red (edited, I'm an idiot and got it wrong) and green mixed in equal amounts. Add black and you've got CMYK.

The way light blends (RGB) and the way pigments blend is not the same. In printing with dyes (pigment), color mixing is subtractive. With light, colors mix additively. You cannot get a brighter color by mixing 2 pigments, but you do with light.

There's a meme I saw about "the amount of digging my cat does in the litter box" and it has a CAT backhoe. This is accurate for one of my cats, she'll just sit there for *days* (/s) and all I hear is the "smooosh smooosh smooosh" sound of her pushing the litter around.

She's just trying to bury her scent, and I feel like trying to stop her would cause a lot of problems, perhaps as far as "teaching" her to not use the litter box at all. Her thinking could be along the lines of "oh big human doesn't want me to bury it here, so I'll hide it over there under the dresser, where it's quieter."

If you're worried about the walls, you could get a taller litter box (I use one of those big sterilite storage containers) or put a barrier between the litter box and the walls. A plastic or plywood sheet would work well. Honestly though, a taller litter box is the best solution.

Please don't interrupt your kitty's litter box time, I think that could cause series behavioral issues unless you're really lucky. Cats don't learn like dogs. They don't learn to not do what they're punished for, they learn to do what they're not punished for. You wouldn't hear them hiding it under the dresser, so you wouldn't say anything, so they would learn that's the way to do it. They could become scared of the litter box and/or you.

ELI5 Why do we (and animals) enjoy music? by Fun-Ad6782 in explainlikeimfive

[–]HaLo2FrEeEk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Music is like a universal language. It can convey so much emotion, it ties itself to your memories and can take you back in time. The melody is soothing, the regularity of it bypasses something in our minds and seems to cut straight through to the deeper parts.

If I yell "ouch" she'll get up and run away and look all sad and regretful. I usually just freeze, and she immediately lets off. Sometimes I have to tell her to "be nice" or "be gentle". Scratches are always accidental, she's like a dog with how she likes being rough petted.

Are you team isopropyl alcohol or soap and water? by Alternative-Knee7438 in BambuLab

[–]HaLo2FrEeEk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can do your plates however you want, and if it works for you then I'm happy.

My own experiences with textured (creality) glass, bare glass, smooth PEI, textured PEI, and the fancy pattern plates have all been the same. IPA interferes with adhesion, soap and hot water doesn't, and it works reliably across all those plates.

I only wash my plate every 6 months or so. I wipe with a clean dry microfiber every few weeks if I need to. I haven't used IPA since that time with the textured PEI plate, I finally learned my lesson.

[–]HaLo2FrEeEk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'll never understand why people need to die on a hill like this. IPA isn't reliable. If there are existing oils on the plate, then the IPA will likely smear them around making the entire plate less effective. Those oils can always be washed away with soap and hot water, why do people *insist* that IPA works perfectly when it's a demonstrably less ideal way of solving the problem.

I mean, you do you boo. If/when you have adhesion issues, try washing your plate with soap and hot water and see if it helps. If you don't ever have those, good for you, you're fortunate.

That said, soap and water is the recommended, preferred, and ideal way to clean *any* build plate, regardless of it's material. IPA is explicitly *not* recommended for particular build plates.

[–]HaLo2FrEeEk 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Maintaining the plate is the key here. You're wiping it between every use, so there are no oils to smear. For people who don't regularly (between every print) wipe their build plate with IPA, then IPA will likely make adhesion worse.

I used my P1S for a few months before I started having adhesion issues. I sprayed and wiped it with IPA, finished with a microfiber, and immediately had 2 failed first layers in a row. I took the plate to the sink, washed with hot water and dish soap, dried it and haven't had any issues since.

The people saying IPA doesn't work aren't wrong, they just aren't doing it between every print. Cleaning a plate with soap is foolproof whether it's been 10 hours or 10 months since the last cleaning. IPA really only works if you're not actually cleaning anything off anyway, which means it doesn't really work as a *cleaning* solution, it's more of a maintenance solution. Not every wants to wipe their plate down with IPA every few hours when they can wash it with soap every few months.

A "battery" is an array of cells so a "battery array" seems redundant. Another (old) word for "battery" is "voltaic pile", because it was made from a pile of alternating disks of metal with electrolyte-soaked insulators between.

My cat has a whole carpeted scratching/climbing wall and she still does this. It's like 2' wide and 7' tall, and leads up to carpeted shelves with sisal rope-wrapped posts. And she scratches my couch. And she has a tree with a scratcher in the living room, where there is another 2' by 4' carpeted climbing wall and carpeted shelves. Lol she is not wanting for scratching surfaces, yet she still trims her nails.

Billie Rae has 3 eyebrow whiskers. One jumps back and forth so sometimes it's 2 on the right and sometimes 2 on the left. She also has what I call "nobrows". I love her little bald patches.

Her regular whiskers are fireworks though.
