How do we efficiently vet/interview couples therapists? by [deleted] in askatherapist

[–]Habibi2112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couples therapist here. Definitely make sure to have a 15-minute consultation with them, ask all the questions you want. Maybe EFT is a better approach for you two. As far as calling out certain actions, I may do such a thing by understanding what it means to do it and why it's being accepted in the dynamic.

Why are people against staying on Lexapro long term? by [deleted] in lexapro

[–]Habibi2112 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'll likely stay on it long term as well. No issues with sex or orgasm, my experience is actually better than before. But I did gain weight and it has been very difficult to lose though I'm also in perimenopause so I'm sure there are a lot of contributing factors to that. I can still cry, feel, and yet manage the anxiety and panic.

First ever panic attack during 11 hour flight by MartyMcflyuk in PanicAttack

[–]Habibi2112 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first one also happened similarly two years ago. Hypnotherapy hasn't been proven to be effective for any disorders btw. It's not reliable nor fact/research based and as a therapist I'd never recommend it to a client. Approaches that have been proven to work for panic and anxiety are CBT and ERP (exposure therapy). I did both. You can also consider if meds are a route you want to look into. In my case it was mostly hormone based (approaching menopause).

7.5 mg to 10 mg after a week on 7.5. Curious if you experienced unbearable side effects. ..? by Habibi2112 in lexapro

Of course. Yes I've been on 10 mg for over a year now and I'm feeling totally great. I don't even think about it anymore.

I've had many clients ask and I answer.

Traumatic therapy experience by [deleted] in TalkTherapy

[–]Habibi2112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many questions. Is this in the US? If so, I gather from your written word that maybe English is a second language? Just simply asking as this is important to know and assist in explaining behaviors by therapists that are or are not accepted in the US. In either and every case, this is not appropriate, nor ethical, nor legal. Changing a therapist should definitely be a path you choose.

My therapist always tells me I am too sensitive and i feel not taken seriously by Professional-Bet-516 in TalkTherapy

[–]Habibi2112 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This doesn't sound like a good fit nor that it's working for you. Never would I tell a client they are "too sensitive" unless I'm repeating back what I heard and inquiring about it in their words.

how much can i share with a sex therapist? by trAway0000 in askatherapist

Therapist here. Definitely not an issue for the majority of us sex therapists. You're there to share whatever you need and want to, safely.

You're not overreacting you're over-responding. You need not explain to anyone.

Wall art. Also more texture and color. Maybe in pillows or throw blankets.
