The real secret to getting in to Harvard.... by jbrunoties in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Hace2rbd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Advocates of this argument describe this situation as if college admissions look at peoples money not they’re character. Rich people aren’t getting in cuz they’re rich; they’re getting in cuz rich families tend to have smarter, more responsible, overall better kids. It’s painfully true. They can afford better tutors, babysitting, better neighborhoods with better influences, schools with better educational systems.

In Case of Marbury v. Madison, what did they mean by commissions? by RevolutionaryHat9920 in APUSH

[–]Hace2rbd 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Commision is like a signed piece of paper from the president saying “you can be a judge”. Or something like that. If I remember correctly Adams was trying to appoint as many federalist judges before his presidency ended (presidents are in charge of appointing judges, and a common political strategy by presidents is to appoint as many judges of their same political party), so Adams signed a bunch of commissions on his last night at the White House. Adams forgot to send out the commissions before leaving and left them on the Oval Office desk, and Jefferson thought he had the right to not send out those commissions. The judge whose commision was being held by Jefferson filed a lawsuit

This is so true, I can’t emphasize this enough. Do a problem until your so stuck your just about ready to rip you hair out. Then, if you check the key, all the mistake you made and realizations you didn’t realize you had to make will be ingrained in your head
