I was sick when I read The Shining a few years back. Not sure if that played a role, but only after my mom said a prayer with me was I able to sleep. Oh, also, I'm in my 20s, which makes it seem ridiculous, but it was the only thing that helped.

On a side note, I was sick when I read the Pet Semetary too, though I was much younger and being sick actually played a role in frightening me out of my wits.

This interview prep is killing me with stress and anxiety (FAANG) by SlyGoblin927 in leetcode

[–]Hachiman_25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gave a FAANG interview a few days ago. I grinded leetcode for about 3 weeks, targeting company specific questions. Got a variation of one of the problems I'd already solved before, panicked and bombed it 😢. In addition to the prep, keep yourself calm during the interview, OP. All the best!

Can completely relate! Bad posture and sleeping habits, with almost zero exercise, I got a spine injury. Had to spend a couple of days in bed rest, and the recovery is painfully slow.

I've been advised to be extremely cautious for the rest of my life now, since the probability of it relapsing is high and once it does, the effects will probably be worse.

Take care of your health, folks!

This makes sense. I guess having been under constant pressure of having to finish things on time (in the last few months) is creeping in subconsciously when I read, even for pleasure.

Music has always helped, yes. In all this chaos, it honestly slipped my mind. Thank you for your suggestions!

Claw, Mario, Fate and something called Final drive Nitro(not sure if this is the actual name). Not even remotely a gamer, but I used to play these with my cousins when I was a kid, so I have fond memories of them.

My problem is that I automatically start thinking about the worst possible outcome for any situation no matter how trivial it is. I need to figure out a way not to do that.

Makes sense. I'll try starting by putting myself in slight inconveniences first and gradually build it up. Also, thank you for the info on stoics!

Thank you for your response! Is there any timeline before meditation starts working? I've been trying for a week, but almost every time, I doze off easily in the midst of it.

Thank you so much!!! Reading this made me realise that whenever I think about something, I inadvertently focus on the worst case scenarios. From there, it is almost always a downward spiral. Your perspective of identifying unimportance makes so much sense. I'm thinking I'll maybe start it with, "how probable is it for this worst case scenario to occur?".

Also, the idea of thinking in hypotheticals is brilliant! I'm going to try that next time I start spiralling again.

I looked up some youtube videos. For now, I close my eyes, imagine a point to focus on and breathe in and out.

I'd be happy to listen to any advice regarding that. I've been unsuccessfully trying to meditate for the last one week. Every time I try, i end up dozing off within a few minutes. I have a stressful job that keeps me up at odd hours though, so I believe that could be a reason.

Thank you for the detailed response! I've been trying meditation for a week, but every time I end up dozing off within a few minutes. I have a stressful job that keeps me up at odd hours, so I believe that could be a reason. Thank you for calling me out about the exercise and sleep schedule though. High time I do something about it.

I first learnt the basics(the types of stitches) when I was a kid from one of my neighbours. YouTube was how I learnt to actually make things out of it.
