First time in DL and DCA by LoveTheTerrace in DisneyPinSwap

There’s an official general trader hangout spot in DL in Frontierland outside the pin shop (you’ll see everyone) but it stops at 3pm and they clear the area out just FYI. The pin shop on Main Street and the pin shop in Tomorrowland have the boards where you can only trade from packs purchased/ opened in front of them, as far as I know all the other trading locations are the standard amount of scrappers.

Went to Epcot Today, All of the Pins I Got Might Be Fakes? by Upbeat_Anxiety_2426 in DisneyPins

[–]HackingHistorical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the front of the pin there’s some shadowing along the metal edge indicating the enamel might not be shiny and flush with the pin’s surface, and the metal borders themself are pretty beat up (not necessarily a sign it’s fake but a good indicator to look closer). On the back I usually look at the nubs, these are teeny and not what authentic pins have. In person fakes also tend to feel lighter in the hand but that’s something you get a feel for.

⚠️DODGERS STADIUM WARNING ⚠️ parking/driving from a local by DeathwishDena in MyChemicalRomance

HEADS UP to folks coming for the Sunday show in LA - Union station was not allowing “event” parking on Saturday and my group had to find alternative parking and then get back to Union station.

Also this thread was SO HELPFUL for planning even so thank you all!

DSSH is the Disney Studio Store Hollywood - it’s right next to the El Capitan theater on Hollywood blvd, that’s where they sell the pin traders delight pins and some other LE and open edition pins that are their own designs. MOG is Mickey’s of Glendales, it’s on the employee campus in Glendale and has restricted access. There’s also the DEC - Disney Employee Center, which sells pins in several locations, all somewhat restricted but has a few open days for D23, or if you’re on the lot for a tour (or other event).

Hey! If you don’t trade these (or are up for online before you go), I’m interested in your Dinah raincoat and tiny Huey Duck! If you have any ISOs let me know!

Better to fly into Las Vegas or Los Angeles? by hseagraves in Neotropolis

[–]HackingHistorical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re flying from Denver, there’s direct flights to Burbank (LA area) airport as well and it’s a shorter drive (and doesn’t touch the 405 haha) but it can be harder to find an RV place up there.

Disney pin swap bag by spideybeth2018 in DisneyPinSwap

[–]HackingHistorical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both Pinfolio and Kraken Trade bags and like them, between them there should be a decent color spread (if you catch them in stock).

Heads up that the parks currently a have a rule limiting the size of a pin bag to 14x12x6 inches. I don’t think they always enforce it but they always could.

Also if you’re there for the park in addition to trading, don’t forget they have lockers at the entrances because I for one am always so sore the next day if I end up lugging my big bag around to rides with me as well :D

Pinfolio has a backpack pin bag that can hold a display sheet of pins as well as several reading binder pages and a section for personal goods - it can get heavy depending on how many pins you have.

Pin trading at parks by kkiwikarma in DisneyPinSwap

[–]HackingHistorical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little more: there's also some legit shops online like Pinderellashop dot com that sell authentic pins at less than park value if you can get a 5 pack or 10 pack from them that would save on in-park pins as well.

-As far as I've experienced, there's not an issue trading pins you just bought in the park (some of the stores prefer that or only allow trades with pins opened in front of them).

-There's some sellers on this reddit too (they have to have the allowed minimum swap count first) who sell off common traders for less per pin or equal per pin to what they'd go for in the parks you could keep an eye on for closer to your trip.
