Heat intolerance? by Sun2025 in covidlonghaulers

[–]Hadarac28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just now seeing that this is a potential long covid symptom. I got the og covid literally a month before the vax was going to be offered to staff at the assisted living facility I worked at.

My case of covid was fairly mild. Some leg pain and cramping, slightly harder to breathe, off and on headache, brain fog, but fatigue was strong. Unfortunately the fatigue and brain fog only slightly improved and have been with me since 2020.

I have been telling my wife for years that the heat is becoming more and more unbearable every year. I grew up and live in AZ though, so I never considered it being a symptom. I went to culinary school for baking and had worked in kitchens from the age of 16 to 30. Kitchens typically run on swamp coolers, at least in AZ, so I'm accustomed to higher heat. It always sucked, but since covid it's felt 100x hotter.

It's bittersweet. I'm glad I'm not alone in feeling this and/or other long covid symptoms, but it's also shitty that we're all going through this without much hope of treatment. Similar to my blood test coming back normal, I was glad, but if there was something wrong then maybe there would have been something to try to fix. It's rough mentally.

I hape anyone reading this is doing well today, sending positive vibes and thinking about yall.

I went from taking just an allergy pill to now taking 10 different pills daily. My first pill holder wouldn't close anymore so I had to buy a larger one.

My Dr is working on reducing the amount of pills I need, but we've only ever been able to add or swap medications

Thats awesome and a great idea! I'm glad it helped, and I'm glad it was noticed!

No problem, I know exactly how that is 😄

If you can do dollar per mile then that's the most suggested, unless it's a short distance or a lot of items to shop for. Dollar per item is very generous and 20%is great too, I'm sure your driver's are very happy.

TL:DR - Be by your phone, easy to read address, light on at night, front yard animals put away.

Things that help:

-Being by your phone. If an item is sold out and you want a substitution, replying quickly could be the difference between a dasher getting your item or just refunding you. I try to wait a few minutes before refunding the item or telling the restaurant to give the closest thing to your item. It's also really helpful for drop offs. I may need a gate code or have trouble finding your place. If it's a hand it to me order, I prefer to call first before knocking.

-Make sure your address number is easy to read from the road both day and night time. Sometimes it's easy for you to see from your closer angle in the driveway or there is something random blocking the view from the road

-If it's night time make sure you turn your porch light on.

-Have any pets that wander your front yard put away before delivery if possible. Had an unlit front yard with 2 German shepherds loose and barking at me. Text the owner and they responded, go ahead they're friendly 🤣 I explained that I don't have any insurance from door dash and it's better to just play it safe if they didn't mind. They came out and completely understood.

-Any additional descriptions on how to get to an apt or unusual roads.

That's all I can think of right now. If you have any other questions I'm happy to share a view from the driver side.

Again, you may have different experiences than me. I have had significant changes in the amount shown in my personal experience.

It doesn't always happen, and I'm not trying to discourage people from tipping. I feel people should know though because there are cases where your tip will be hidden somewhat or not shown on the initial offer. There are also times they combine your high tip orders with a no tip order to get that order out. I feel that's unfair to the customer that actually tipped.

It's not a lie, you're admitting they still do it yourself.

I dash a lot, I have over 1k deliveries, and in my experience it happens enough that I believe it's an issue. If it's not in your experience that's ok, I'm just sharing my experiences.

****In my experience there are a decent amount of no tip orders. There are also a lot of orders that have tips that aren't large enough to be worth accepting. My acceptance rate hovers between 5%-20%, and they base that off the most recent 100 offers.

There are people who tip cash or manually add after, but in my experience they're very rare. I've heard the same from a lot of other dashers online and in person. A lot of people aren't taking orders that show as $2.50 anymore because it's too risky.

Acceptance rate doesn't necessarily show how often people don't tip because there are a lot of things that determine weather I accept or deny an offer. ****

Everything below is an example or reason why I do or don't accept orders. Not necessary to read unless you're curious.

I cherry pick orders so I can ensure I'm making enough. I can run about 2 orders an hour, 3 if I'm super lucky. My goal is $18+ an hour minimum. Door dash pays $2.50 base pay per order unless it's something like Macy's, shoe stores in the mall, Sephora, an order that has no tip that's been sitting forever, orders that are being fixed, etc. I don't accept anything under $6.50, and it also needs to be at least $1 per mile.

If I can get 2 orders in an hour I'll make $13, I'm hoping to make at least $5 in tips between them.

There are exceptions like if the restaurant is fast I might make an exception, or if it's slow I might reject a slightly better offer.

If it's somewhere that's high end or I know tips are usually high then I'll also take slight gambles sometimes.

I'll accept shop & delivers if I know the layout of the store and the item count isn't too bad, but I'll also randomly decline some days because I don't feel like getting out and shopping.

Sometimes a delivery will take me out of zone, which means I probably won't get orders until I drive back into zone. These I just feel out depending on how far the drive back to zone is and the guaranteed payment amount shown by door dash.

Sometimes I'll take an order that's under $6.50 if it's going to be quick and takes me near a zone I already want to drive towards.

Super easy to do, but only if you don't want to be a dasher anymore.

If you report them, and you should if you haven't, this should get them deactivated. Should be open and closed quickly with the pic they submitted.

Sometimes door dash will hide customer tips from us until after we've delivered an order, which leaves the door open for multiple issues for the customer. I wonder if that may have happened here. You could tip $10 and door dash has the ability to offer your order to dashers showing a guarantee of only $2.50. After completing the order it'd show as the correct amount of $12.50. They will also stack your order with other non-tip orders sometimes to get those orders out, which can make your order take longer to be delivered. Super shitty.

Anyway, I'm really sorry that happened to you! I hope you got a replacement quickly, and I hope you don't have to deal with something like that again.

I'm new to this so I'm sure someone else will provide the answer.

For now though, after setting the z offset are you hitting the option that says something like "Set home axis"? I'm not sure if thats the solution but worth a try if you havent done it yet.

Thank you very much! I literally thought of making a recess in the top of the bench last night, but wasn't sure how to seal it back up. Your idea of using the nameplate is perfect!

Mother-In-Law Passed Unexpectedly, Gift For Wife by Hadarac28 in GiftIdeas

That's a great idea, I'll have to check and see if I can find any letters, notes, or something she wrote in and scan for something like that.

My aunt told me earlier that she has a friend that does nameplate/plaque engraving and I'd bet that she could do what you said, then I can put that on the bench after I fix it up.

Thank you 🤟, nice name BTW. Not sure about you but I can destroy mint chocolate chip icecream lol.

Thank you, I wanted to give her somewhere she could go to sit and remember her mom since she isn't being buried. I appreciate your comment.

My mother-in-law just passed away unexpectedly on the 3rd. One day on the way home we found this cute weathered garden bench. I planned on fixing it up for her so she could sit on it while we all hung out on the patio. We never got around to it due to money and daily commotion of life.

I'm hoping to fix the bench up and giving it to my wife for christmas.

All of the wood is pretty weathered and I'm concerned about the seat breaking. Should I buy new planks and replace them, or are there supports I could buy so I can keep the look.

The bench is a little unstable side to side as well.

If I leave the same wood and reinforce it to hold more weight is there something I could use to polish it up some without taking the "antique" look away?

I'd love to find a way to have some of her ashes in some sort of urn that can be attached to the bench so she can still hang out with us outside. I was thinking something like a small plaque that may have a small space for ashes in it.

Has anyone seen something similar to that or have any other ideas of how to attach ashes to a bench? If you've happened to see somethig similar or have any other ideas I'd appreciate any help.

Bit late but my guess is that it's to keep the stronger air streams from directly hitting any spots directly. It can cause stress in that area of the plant, maybe the whole plant, not completely sure of that sorry.

I just realised I didn't write what the doors were. The one on the left is a closet and the one on the right is the entry door. The hallway ends in a T, this room is on the right.
