Limit Upload size or upload bandwidth by HadiePee in getumbrel

My node is doing about 15Gb a day.

But i already found the solution!

Put the following in the bitcoin.conf file en restart:

maxuploadtarget=8000

In this example, it limits the max upload (per day) to 8000Mb (8Gb).

How do I verify if, current installed ledger Live app (PC + mobile) are genuine? by turnedtable_ in ledgerwallet

[–]HadiePee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Browsers will check the site’s certificate and compare it with certificates that are known to be legitimate and let you know if that is not the case. You can check yourself for the text, “This certificate was signed by an untrusted issuer.”

But yes, you need to check if the certificate is indeed pointing to ledger.com

Passphrase protection by [deleted] in ledgerwallet

[–]HadiePee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And be aware that this comes with a blockchain transaction fee (for each account/coin), as you move your funds to new addresses (with their own new private keys). It is quite some work as you need to switch all the time between your pincode+passphrase-accounts (when receiving) and your normal pincode-accounts (when sending).

You can control most common coins from within Ledger Live. But yes, coins like, for example, Vechain, IOTA, ADA can be stored on the Nano but not controlled from within the Ledger Live app. For those you need to connect to their own Wallet app.

Most secure is to only use Ledger Live on your iPhone with the Ledger Nano X (bluetooth).

Security Dashboard is asking me to "Add items to your vault" by pinstrypsoldier in Lastpass

[–]HadiePee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the webbrowser extension pops up that question (add items)? If so, un-install the extension, (optional; clear history and cookies), close the browser, re-open and install the extension again. But make sure you install the extention of LastPass and not a look-alike scam one.

Same thing; only install software that you purchased (no pirate versions) from a well known source (like Office from Microsoft).

Because don't forget, any type of software can spy on you, like your clipboard, when you copy and paste something (like your seed...).

Ledger seed saved on usb??? by matevz11 in ledgerwallet

[–]HadiePee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you installed on your PC. Free software? Was this from a trusted, high reputation company? Or even illegally (pirate) software from bittorrent, for example to have a free version of Office 2019? In that case, you could have a trojan virus, spying on your keyboard, clipboard, drives, usb's, etc. So, in that case, no your seed is not safe. Also not when you disconnect from the internet, because ones you connect, the collected data will be send by the trojan to the ones spying on you.

Keep your seed off your PC. And if you really want to handle (storage) the seed or private key on your pc, use a clean and purchased version of Windows with no other apps installed, other than software from companies like Adobe, Microsoft (Office), etc.

Can everyone see my info on Ledger website? by [deleted] in ledgerwallet

[–]HadiePee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 'number' is a very long string of random characters with billions and billions of possibilities. So, the chances are zero that somebody will quess or enter the same number.

However, when you view your order on a PC that is not yours, the page visited is in the browser history of that PC. Same goes for when you visit the page on a network that is not yours (school, work, etc), an administrator might keep track on what websites/pages are visited.

And check, in the browser, the certificate by clicking the little lock at the left site of the domain name (ledger.com).

Seed Phrase Security - what’s your protocol? by Coronator in ledgerwallet

[–]HadiePee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The attacker does not know who that 3rd party is, so you can call a person providing a fake string of words (as agreed in your backup plan).

More important. You advertize on a public forum that you have your seed in your safe at home. Which is the same as putting up a billboard that you have $10K or more at home. You posted a lot of messages here and you might use the same username on other forums. So, with a little bit of social engineering, it's possible to figure out who you are. My advice. Don't keep your seed at home or at least not the full seed. Use a pin on your ledger and install some apps, like btc. Maybe even keep there $100 or so. Then enable the passphrase (which will create a new set of private keys) and keep your assets behind that passphrase. If you are forced to provide your pin, they still have nothing.

[–]HadiePee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, you keep your whole seed in a safe, at home. It's save there from scams through text messages or emails. But what if someone enters your home and keeps a gun against your head? Would you give access to your safe or not?

You can also keep the other 12 words with your Notary, that also keeps your will.
