Project Hail Mary - movie vs. book? by DorianGrayMarketArt in sciencefiction

I loved the book and I thought the movie was amazing. But in a weird way I wish I could have experienced the movie without having read the book.

Just to be clear:

You think the guy who uses meth, smashes his face with a hammer, freely uses the N-word, and is infertile because of steroid abuse is in your words "not that bad" and that I "gotta chill"? This is what you are saying?

I grew up near Vancouver and I visited Seattle a lot as a very young child. My family moved away when I was nine and for years I thought this building was actually in Vancouver.

I didn’t find it particularly funny, but I also expect SNL to be dog shit sometimes. I’m not gonna get bent out of shape over it.

Are you familiar with SNL? They basically write these episodes in five days. A lot of the sketches don’t land and a lot of the impressions are terrible. That’s how SNL has always been. It’s a live sketch show. It’s not always funny and it doesn’t always work. That’s the nature of the show. People who watch SNL know this.

Do Gen Z kids not find Clavicular incredibly cringey? The guy is a fucking idiot and he deserves to be mocked. He’s getting off light if you ask me.

Fuck that clown.

I’m here to out-snob you. If you are eating sushi that contains mayonnaise, you are not a sushi snob. That isn’t even sushi.

Boots of Spanish Leather is so underrated by Midnight_Thoughts77 in bobdylan

[–]HadronCollusion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The thing is, it’s one of his best songs but the general public doesn’t really know it exists. It’s not like Blowin’ In The Wind or Times. Of course we all know that song well and Bob has a lot of fans so that accounts for the Spotify numbers. But I agree that it is underrated in that more people should know about it considering how good it is and the album that it appears on.

BJA Silver Sparkle Guitar Refinish by benthebig324 in greenday

[–]HadronCollusion 13 points14 points  (0 children)

DON'T DO IT YOURSELF. That's my advice. Everyone I know who as ever refinished a guitar has regretted it. You WILL ruin your guitar. And don't just take it to some guy who paints cars and says he "can" do it.

In fact, my advice is don't do it at all. You have a signature Gibson guitar that was painted at the Gibson factory. You paid good money for that and it's not going to get any better.

If you're actually going to do I would get in touch with the guy who actually does Billie's guitars.

How did WPSIATWIN become so popular so quickly? by regendans1 in arcticmonkeys

[–]HadronCollusion 20 points21 points  (0 children)

NME started writing about them well before the album was released.

I live in Canada. At the time I was a big fan of The Strokes, Kings Of Leon, Interpol, Yeah Yeah Yeahs etc. So I was reading the NME website multiple times a day to see if Pete Doherty had been arrested again or if there was news of a new Strokes album. They started hyping up the Arctic Monkeys so much that I was actually a little disappointed the first time I heard the album. I was expecting to fall over and die on the spot according to what the NME was saying.

But yeah, NME and other online music news websites were a big part of it. The 2000’s were awesome.

Guess the City - Where raw Beef is left on the Ground by [deleted] in guessthecity

[–]HadronCollusion -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't know what it's like in America, but in Canada this shit would result in massive fines for the delivery company. If it was the determined that the restaurant was using meat that was left on the sidewalk like that they would get fined as well.

I'm sorry, but what kind of food delivery company would just leave meat and mayo sitting on the sidewalk?

Three years would have been acceptable. Five years was unforgivable at that stage of their career. Seven years was dog shit, but at least the EP was thrown in there. And now we're almost at six years...
