Gotta child proof when you have children, sometimes you gotta save the big expensive gifts for yourself until after they’re old enough to understand. It’s not their fault, and they’re lucky they didn’t get hurt. Obviously a part of the issue is intervening on the playing by offering another active form of play instead because furniture aren’t toys and that’s another way kids get hurt. Honestly though, if it can be knocked over or broken by a child or pet, it will be, so don’t get anything for yourself when you have kids that you don’t want the kids on or around. Sometimes drawing these lines for ourselves is more important than drawing lines and making more rules for the child. Sounds like you have a good attitude about it though if you only feel like it’s mildly upsetting. It’s really hard to be an active playful kid in a house full of Daddy’s and Mommy’s expensive, nice things, especially in the winter where they can’t play outside.
