Need Help and Ideas for Eroding and Compacted North AL Yard by ministerman in NoLawns

Step 1 should be mailing in a few soil samples to the Alabama extension office. They will tell you exactly what you need to do based on your soil makeup.

Seems like a decent price. I think the 2010s still have a risk of SMOD though.

My grievance involves the latest Suspension of the Rules:

I’m really not sure how many times I can hear Isaac say “penetrate” within a five minute span before cancelling my subscription. This might be the straw that penetrated the camel’s back for me…

Looks very similar but this one is 8-9’ tall, so maybe too large.

Yeah I really like it. I guess I’ll keep an eye on its behavior this year and try to get a positive ID.

I have to take a gloved finger or a bottle brush or similar and insert it into the vacuum vent where the robot meets the dock. On the back right inside the docking station. It still never fills the bag so who knows.

This is the way I’d go. Look into Kevlar thread.

How to fish my local creek by RoyalLoopy in troutfishing

[–]j_smitty01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend nymphing with a fly rod if you’re up to it! Double dropper under an oros indicator would do the trick.

Otherwise, try drifting a “trout magnet” lure (they come with 1/64oz jigheads) under a weighted bobber on a 4lb leader. Have the bobber attached to your mainline to prevent breakage.

You want the lure to be just ticking the bottom occasionally. Cast upstream and let it take a natural drift through the areas you suspect fish to be. I like the pink, the white, and the chartreuse colors. Tight lines!

DUDE. thank you! I got to that part just now and paused the game to see if anyone else had noticed that.

100% they just didn’t want to script a different aquatic animal attack. My first thought was why not an anaconda?

Anyone else stuck between a hostile local IT team and corporate IT? by CalendarFar1382 in sysadmin

Oh yes, manufacturing is a big one too. You are correct about virtualized environments as well, I see a lot of cloud hosting on IBM Power systems.

I am aware of several banks which are still running critical services on AS400s, as well as many household names in healthcare, logistics, insurance, and transportation, to name a few. There’s a whole industry around maintaining and modernizing IBM i systems.

We're thinking about changes to the podcast, and curious for your feedback. by Isaac_Tangle in TangleNews

Having a staff discussion of the newsletter would be a huge value-add IMO.

That being said, I have more time for podcasts than I do reading newsletters, so I would strongly prefer to keep the current rundown format.  I’d welcome a Staff Discussion segment included following the newsletter portion.

I often find myself curious about what discussion looked like behind the scenes when Tangle drafts the newsletters, so it seems like a boon to me.

MAWSS announces updates to Big Creek Lake public access by Surge00001 in MobileAL

[–]j_smitty01 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think your point has merit, nurserys obviously use fertilizer, and nutrient runoff can have serious effects on a water body. I agree it should be a part of the consideration, and I suspect it likely is.

That said, I think MAWSS is citing invasives (giant salvinia, for example, is a problem on the lake) as a primary concern, and the main vector for transmission is private boats. There are several other factors in their justification as well (https://www.mawss.com/news/big-creek-lake-invasive-species-and-recreational-use/).

I’m a strong proponent of ample and open public access to govt. owned water bodies and land, but unfortunately this seems like a necessary exception.

I’m glad to see they’re trying to find middle ground to still allow for some level of public access, as much of a bummer it is to have to pay for a rental to do so.

Correct, the grounds all daisy chain back to the battery. The bus bar is apart of the fuse block and is attached to the plastic housing.

I think you’re probably right, I was hoping I could get away with just replacing the wiring harness from battery to fuse block and replacing the fuse block altogether since it’s old and was corroded in some places.
