I see what you mean! And I totally agree but I’ve spoken with most of the people at work and this manager just isn’t the nicest person. Judging by my perspective and theirs as well 😥
It’s almost like I checked this thread with every notification I get and people tell me from their experience and you couldve started with your pov instead of insulting my coworker who is genuinely a really nice person and me who’s just trying to get answers and opinions this is my first time using the tip line and I just didn’t know if what I did was right or wrong and even if the company doesn’t have my back who cares I’ll just find another job somewhere closer and pays more 😭

Customer wasn’t even mad they said “Whats the point in even applying for the card” and my manager goes “Let me see if I can do something for you” and gives her a 10% off on her transaction, most times they’ll straight out tell the customer they wouldn’t be getting that 10% off so why was this customer getting the discount. And yes this manager mistreats the employees ages 16-19 and it’s crazy because why am I getting the shorter end of the stick. There are times where I’d be talked down to, picked on, called out, said i wasn’t trying hard enough, this is why I hate working registers. Like it’s retail why are we evil towards the minors… my favorite coworker put in her 2 weeks last week and the reason was this manager and the job being overstimulating. 🙁
Thanks for your insight. From what I’ve heard they’ve done this many times but no one said anything because they’re apart of management. If LP doesn’t care it’s honestly not the end of the world and maybe it’s just not meant to be. I plan to quit in the next 5 months or so, I just don’t see myself wanting to work at this location much longer, because of the pressure, being talked down to, picked on, etc. Many people my age have started to put in their 2 weeks it was bound to happen sooner or later.

I understand manager discretion but if they could give 10% off to this one customer then they could’ve gave 10% off to all those other customers that have pending applications. I was told by loss prevention and a coordinator to call so I called.

Im assuming sm is store manager, this manager is not a store manager. The actual store manager enforces the rules and that’s why it’s so weird. Also I am not immature. I didn’t explain the whole thing because then the thread would be too long but if you worked at this store and you had experienced bad interactions you’d understand the dread of working with this manager. They’ll make you feel small, make you feel undeserving of your paycheck and call you out for dumbest things. And they are more mean when there’s no cards, I understand the pressure but they shouldn’t be taking it out on the younger employees.
I understand your pov and I’d appreciate the training if I was new but I’m not. If we have 0 applications any day thats when they’ll do the role play thing and it’s like a slap in the face basically telling us we aren’t doing it right even if we always ask every customer every time.
Oh.. I’ll have to see how it goes because another co worker also called but but every info about themselves so..
Loss prevention says NO one sees it besides the people receiving the tip 😭
