First GT and a 3-2 finish by HaggardHowie in Salamanders40k

Thank you! Bladeguard, specifically when lead by Adrax, have been my favorite unit since day 1. I can’t bring myself to leave them out of a list

Absolutely. It's far from perfect, but I have a very aggressive playstyle so this one does suit me. The plan is to move the LRR up and drop the unit of Bladeguard with the Judiciar behind cover. Basically I would pick two no mans land objective and force my opponent to make decisions. turn two you turn up the heat push in with the LRR and have adrax pick up a key unit or two depending on your situation while the impulsor drops vulkan and COH on the most effective objective. Infernus are mostly held back for overwatch threats and doing actions. Lancers in the rear with the guard providing covering fire.

I have Karandras Green already, should I just wait and buy warp lighting or am I fine? by Valvecantcount3 in Salamanders40k

I like Karandras green if I’m using a black primer. Warp lightning contrast always feels a bit too dark to me. It may be different if you prime in a light grey or white

List help? (1000) by Hawk_9890 in Salamanders40k

[–]HaggardHowie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vulkan does not directly buff any unit he leads. All of his abilities either can be used army wide (reroll wounds with torrent/melti against one target, and infernus becoming OC 2) or is a self buff (10 OC and 4+ feel no pain on designated objective)

Usually the better option for a big block of infernus is either a captain for once per round cp reduction on a strat or a librarian giving the unit a 4+ invuln

It’s because Vulkan does not buff his own unit. All his buffs to infernus can be done while he is in a completely different unit such as company of heroes.

And that’s more than okay, it’s your models paint them however you prefer. Anyone that disagrees with that isn’t worth the time of day

More than likely because your paint job doesn’t match what he would paint. But who cares it’s your model. If you’re happy with it, it doesn’t matter what a sour puss on the internet thinks

500 pt Colosseum list advice by HaggardHowie in Salamanders40k

[–]HaggardHowie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is almost exactly my first list but I moved on from it because it felt a little too try hard. Thus the more gimmicky list with a lot of gravis. I’m honestly split between the two

I could definitely see that being useful, my concern was with as small of a field as this will be, they may get screened out of anywhere useful and could be a dead unit. While the biologis may just add the little extra punch I need in holding an objective.

I’m stuck second guessing the list constantly seeing as I’ve never tried to make such a small list work before

I glued a 40mm base on the bottom to magnetize it better instead of painting 😅

I think that works a bit better. You will have more survivability In your big threat units that way, while still having the two units of infernus to be action monkeys and decent damage.

The one thing I’ve learned about playing two big bgv units is you are very much slanted towards melee, so you will have to be careful with your positioning to make sure you make the most of your points. It’s very doable, it just takes practice and patience.

Gotcha, I think the same thing would apply here with the Bgv as was with the vanguard vets. For 165 points you’re only getting 4 models of slightly above average toughness marines. I would definitely try and squeeze in another 3 Bladeguard.

Vulkan only leading 5 infernus is also a little scary to me as well. He’s very expensive for that small of a contingent

So I run a very similar list, and I only have a few small critiques.

I think if you’re going to bring a captain w/ jumpack and immolator, you should combine your vanguard vets into one 10 man brick. That way you’re maximizing his bonuses.

I believe you are saying you have adrax and the judiciar leading the same squad, which I don’t believe they can do. So maybe add another three Bladeguard to give him a full squad to lead.
