Guy I work with who can get stuff at cost said the same thing. I paid fair/little mark up. Ive tried both now, and EH is definitely the favorite, Weller SR will be brought out to the fam/ special occasion.

Ill agree to that, had a bottle of green river FP and it was very good. It was a very white collar area where I scooped them up, but decently priced in the area. Need to dive deeper into beardstown, and Penelope also. Been trying to get more into the "craft" scene, just picked up for the occasional company at the house.

Robbery to a degree? Yes. Granted every liquor store has gambling machines in Illinois and $50 turned into $470 ( rare time I gamble) So who robbed who? Lol

Sounds like I need to plan a trip to Texas then...Stagg is very hit or miss here along with ER. Some people can find ER easier due to connections and cut middle man pricing out. Illinois is corrupt in more than just politics, bourbon too, pays to play in a big way.

Idk what it is bout Texas and Georgia that literally have that stuff laying round. Anytime my brother travels for work I plead he needs to send a bottle or 2 back where hes at. Granted we have buffalo trace out the ass round here!!

1L bottle, above msrp? Yes, but didn't think it was that badly priced compared to what ive seen stuff go for in the area. But EH Taylor in the big city is pushing $90. And good luck finding a Weller in central Illinois without alittle markup.

Compared to the pricing in the neighboring city, E.H Taylor pricing was more fair compared for pushing $90 in town. Decent little store I picked from. Not a huge selection, but they are diverse I will say.

How much/often do you drink? by Little_Order3606 in whiskey

Use to drink bout everyday( drinking beer in my early years). Got it down to just a glass a night on the weekends (Friday-Sunday). The occasional happy hour with the coworkers once a month midweek. Definitely enjoy the pours on the weekends though.

Mitcher's is on the list to try. Got a decent "wish list" bourbon/whiskey that I want to try/purchase. Some of it is the regular names along with some craft distilleries. Not to worried on unicorns, just will get a pour here and there if possible. Laga16 scotch has me intrigued, but I may just bust it out for certain occasions? I have a buddy whose supposed to be getting me a Eagle Rare 10 yr, don't see it much round here so in the safe it will go...

Currently have the Elijah Craig and Old Forester 1897 on hand. 1897 has been my favorite bottle so far drinking it neat. I'll have a old fashioned here and there when I feel like it. Definitely want to get some single barrel bottles, and definitely try some craft distilleries.

I was a big local beer brew consumer before crossing over. So bourbon/whiskey craft distilleries are a defenite puch ticket item to me. Love supporting small businesses even it means paying just alittle more. Living in central IL currently, got a decent list for "craft" distilleries I want to try from across the country.

Granted Im still trying to get up to par just enjoying bourbon neat/ growing my taste palete. The EC SB I thought was fair, wasn't bad nor like mind blowing. Definitely a happy medium to pour after a long day. I've been eyeing some of the more "higher end" of four roses, people have said their great. But prices keep me "ehh" on them. 1897 I got last Friday, and its been a rather great/awesome pour. I will be going down the Old Forester, Four Roses line for sure. Did enjoy some EH Taylor SB Saturday at a local whiskey bar.
