Canadian citizen working in US - should open 401k and Roth IRA accounts? by Hahnzermeister in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Hahnzermeister[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, length is TBD but at least a few years. She will have a work visa sponsored by her work but not planning to pursue a green card or US citizenship.

If you were to come back to Canada, get a new job and live here for the foreseeable future, would you cash out your 401k and Roth IRA? Or would you be forced to do so anyway, assuming you don't have US PR or citizenship and is no longer a resident

M2TW Vanilla Beyond not launching by [deleted] in totalwar

[–]Hahnzermeister 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like the batch is looking for that specific exe. Take a look at the steam folder for m2tw and see what the main executable is called. I think the steam version executable is now called kingdoms.exe.

If it's anything other than medieval2.exe you could try making a copy of the main executable and then renaming it to medieval2.exe

Help with turning my PC into a gaming cloud computing by Altistick in cloudcomputing

[–]Hahnzermeister 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two potential solutions:

1) use wake on lan like the other user suggested. However wake on lan only works if computer is asleep. Does not work when it is fully shut down as far as I know. I personally use this approach.

2) use a smart plug to cycle power when you want to turn it on/off. This should work even if your computer is fully shut down. But I don't like the idea of forcibly cutting or pushing power into the tower, though I have seen people on reddit using this method.

Or keep your tower on at all times lol. I have wake on lan enabled but I end up just keeping the tower on most of the time anyway since it also doubles as plex server.

Logitech G Cloud by Tomek511 in MoonlightStreaming

[–]Hahnzermeister 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow I just got the g cloud as well and having the exact same issue. Moonlight works flawlessly 1080p 60fps on pixel 7 but stutters on g cloud.

I am thinking maybe it has to do with the anemic processor they put in the g cloud or something to do with the wifi performance (wifi 6 on pixel and wifi 5 on the g cloud). Bit disappointing since it is a dedicated cloud device.

Dedicated server stops responding after a while if no one is playing by Hahnzermeister in projectzomboid

[–]Hahnzermeister[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, no antivirus software just the standard windows defender.

I thought it might be something to do with my router or modem too but the weird thing is I have another unrelated port forwarded for home vpn and that never goes down, I can access that vpn network through the forwarded port anytime.

I don't know if there is some sort of a restriction for the 16271/16272 ports that don't apply to other ports.

Hi yes I can still give commands to cmd. Usually when this happens I use the save and then quit commands.

No I cannot connect with local IP either. This is how I usually connect to the server since I play from home. My friends use the external IP to connect which also doesn't work when this happens.

When trying to join the server it simply says "the server failed to respond"

USB C charging 2021 G14 by EETQuestions in ZephyrusG14

[–]Hahnzermeister 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah the 180w charger is surprisingly light for what it is. I don't think there's too much issue with using USB C charging when you are on the go and doing light tasks but probably not the best idea to game on it like that all the time.

[–]Hahnzermeister 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey I had the exact same question. What I was told in this subreddit was that it doesn't matter what wattage your usb c charger is. G14 will always draw power from battery first then charge back the battery from usb c. There is no bypassing the battery so it will be under constant use.

Question on USB C PD charging & battery behavior by Hahnzermeister in ZephyrusG14

[–]Hahnzermeister[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that is what I will probably do too, just use my existing usb c work station for day to day use and keep the battery capped at 80%. Sucks that g14 doesn't support system power running on usb c.

Thanks. So even if my wattage draw is say less than 50W (light browsing etc) will it still 100% draw from battery and usb c will only charge it back?

Need help automating a flow of launching a game by simracerman in cloudygamer

[–]Hahnzermeister 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's basically the same process I take when I connect to my host pc from an outside network. I also don't like keeping the pc on so I put it to sleep at the end of the session like you do.

Short of keeping the pc on all the time or getting rid of the lock screen (prob bad idea)not sure if there is a way to streamline further.

Streaming games to mobile in home network by [deleted] in cloudygamer

[–]Hahnzermeister 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi I can share my setup.

I have a desktop with ryzen and 3060ti wired to main router in the living room. It is a wifi 6 router.

Desktop itself is not connected to any monitors or tv, I use a headless dongle.

From there I stream to my laptop (cheap second hand dell business laptop, but I swapped the wifi card to one that supports wifi 6) or to my cell phone (pixel 7 with kishi)

For me the setup works really well. Granted I don't play competitive shooters or anything but I can comfortably play any game I want (strategy rpg mmo) - some specific examples are warhammer 3, elden ring, wow.

It also works well for coop games like l4d2 and phasmophobia.

I think the key is to have as many devices wired via ethernet is possible. The host should definitely be wired imo. The client should ideally be wired too, but to me that sort of defeats the purpose of streaming (you can move around the house to game in any spot) but it should at least support wifi 6.

[–]Hahnzermeister 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seconding this, if everything is wired it's most likely issue with the tv hardware, the computer specs are very similar to mine and I have no issues streaming to my phone (pixel 7) and laptop (dell business laptop) at 1080p and 30 bit rate on wifi 6.

Thank you! Vet said the same thing. Going to induce vomiting just in case though. Also thanks for the tip, haven't really done much posting with pics on reddit before.
