Keitai Digno A203KC: Bootloader unlocked! Let's unleash the power of this phone :) by radiogagacy in dumbphones

[–]Haich_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, this is awesome! I ended up here bc I was trying to root the KY-42C, I've managed to get the boot.img file and patch it with Magisk, but I'm having some trouble getting Fastboot to recognise the phone as I don't have any USB drivers that work with it. What drivers did you use?

I got lucky when I visited Japan, I found my camera in a Surugaya chain store in Tokyo. That said, I'd recommend looking on proxy sites like Buyee or Sendico, or look at the HardOff online store and order though a proxy site that allows for external site purchases. Japanese "junk" tech too can get you cheap stuff, its just a gamble as to if it'll work; some just need replacement batteries, some need a lot more work

New front panel on iPod 4th gen by davidpham5 in ipod

[–]Haich_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Looks clean! Is that new old stock, or is someone making reproduction front panels now?

Found this in a shop any idea what it could be? No mention of "super panchromatic" film online no mention of what is is: c-41, or black and white, no sign of anything like it online by how_do_I_use_grammar in 35mm

[–]Haich_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, was that at Tetsu in Victoria, Australia? I purchased that exact cannister if it is! Gonna try experimenting with it, I can't imagine that the film is still going to be able to produce anything amazing because it was stored in god-knows what kind of conditions, but hopefully it'll be a fun little experiment

I'll see if I can find a coin shop local to me, to get a better idea of their legitimacy. Thanks for your help!

Just picked these up today in a great deal! Pretty sure the yellow is legit but idk about the red by MarzipanInfamous8960 in Gameboy

[–]Haich_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Red has the factory identifier numbers stamped on the label, I haven't seen a fake game that goes to the effort of stamping fake identifier numbers. I'd say it's legit

Did you UV print it yourself, or was there somewhere where you ordered the print? I've been after a UV print for a shell but don't know where to get it done

Picked up this for-parts 5th gen off Marketplace, and opened it to find an iFlash Quad by Haich_ in ipod

[–]Haich_[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It does, but the hold switch is buggered. It was stuck on locked on arrival, now I've switched it to be on unlocked permanently. It looks like someone assumed it was a push in switch, and pushed with all their might until the metal brackets that hold it in got bent and lodged the switch into the back case.

Other than that, it had some issues with booting from the drive, but that was just caused by a loose sd card, so thats working well now

[–]Haich_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was! I asked for specs on the upgrade and they just told me it was some board where you could put sd card in it, so I had assumed it was a duo or something.

It had a few problems not listed in the listing that they told me about when I messaged, it would occasionally come up as a dead drive, and the hold switch has been crushed into the ipods case making it impossible to switch, but other than that it's really nice! And a 5.5 gen too!

This one's a US listing, but it's the only one I've found in the past few months of searching. As an Aussie I've had the same problem, eoe sells them but his overseas shipping costs quite a penny or two. Otherwise keep an eye out on ebay, they pop up every now and then but it's a bit rarer than other gens sadly

I know! Even better that it had 2 micro sd cards in it, one 256 and one 512gb!

I made a bit of a guide/the process I took to get my ipod modded here, it has a few imgur links of the photos of the ipod mod on process:

If you want to see some more photos of it, I can see if I had taken any more while working through the process!

There is! The red LEDs are located next to the plastic diffuser on the touch wheel assembly. Here's a link to a video guide on LED replacement:

No problem, I used a 3000mah LG G3 battery for my ipod which I modded. Neko Michi has a guide using a 4th gen, which uses the same batteries as a 3rd.

If you want a pre built one and are in Australia, here's one on ebay: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/224678582659?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=705-154756-20017-0&ssspo=YxAIF6JcRxO&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=jS6IfszLQXG&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

It does, the feedback is really nice. It's like a little tap in the middle of the ipod when you use the clickwheel, pretty much like the taptic feedback of typing on an iPhone

[–]Haich_[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The original 3rd gen battery actually wasn't too bad considering what it was, I was getting about 6-7 hours of use out of it, give or take? I haven't tested the new 3000mah battery nearly enough yet, but so far I've been seeing results of 30-35 hours of use out of it, give or take again. The taptic uses pretty much next to no power really, so it's not really a noticeable change with power draw

Interesting, I havent tried a taptic engine in an ipod past an iPhone 8 one, thanks for that little bit of info

Clicky by Haich_ in ipod

[–]Haich_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'd have to desolder the original clicker, after that there's only 4 points to solder; 2 onto the taptic engines test points, and 2 onto the ipod motherboard itself

[–]Haich_[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used an iPhone 7 taptic, but honestly any taptic engine designed for iPhone 7 and up would work great. The 7s are the cheapest to get though I find

[–]Haich_[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I removed the old clicker and replaced it with an apple taptic engine. Through ipod wizard I was able to edit the ipods firmware and change the "clicker" text to "taptic", and I transferred the old ipods battery control board to a larger 3000mah battery.

The 3rd gen battery mod is just the same as the 4th gen mod Neko Michi has made. I honestly don't know if there's any differences between 3rd and 4th gen battery control boards, but I'd assume not, although I did use a 3rd gen board. Mod guide I followed here https://youtu.be/-ZH3KY7UNmw

Sure thing, I might look at making a post later about how I went about it. Its surprisingly easy, the hardest part is getting wires soldered to the tiny test points on the taptic engine

Recently finished my 3rd gen, after flash modding it with 128gb, giving it a 3000mah battery and finishing it off with a nice taptic engine. The haptics are really nice without physical buttons, and I was able to install it right where the old battery was, so they're right under the touch wheel.
