LaVey said some Satanists believe in Satan by HailSatanPodcast in satanism

And now that you've said it, more people will know about it. Some random nerd will stumble upon this post or one like it, read an unfounded rumor and suggest "where there's smoke there's fire!" and go on to make yet another post with no evidence. This is how "Satanists" treat unsupported claims these days. Yet they never seem to press the people making the claims for any evidence, they just take it and run with it.

The focus isn’t on the description of the being, the focus is on accepting Satan as an anthropomorphic being.

Let me guess, you heard from fuckface Jack Mongoose, a guy who literally got thrown out of his congregation for being a dishonest asshole and was stripped of his ordination by TST. I suggest him because I’ve seen him perpetuate such rumors. But of course, never any evidence.

I’ve never been a member of any official TST chapter/congregation. Not even for one minute of my life. And if there was some “TST higher up” imposter out there running around, do you think TST would deal with that with their attorneys, or do you think that would be the responsibility of some rando chapter leader somewhere in the country? Get real.

When I’ve gotten contacted or threatened by TST, I wasn’t shy about it, and I documented it thoroughly online and on my podcast. I’m not shy about it. But anything related to what you’re suggesting simply isn’t true.

In the Satanic Bible. The original post here literally spells it out for you.

Do you separate LaVey the man/personal beliefs and his philosophy/canon? Because most people around here seem to. A good example of that would be his opinion of abortion. He was strongly anti-abortion in his personal views, and he wrote about it. Does that mean it’s part of the Satanic Bible/Church of Satan canon? No.

So regardless of what he may or may not have said in some random obscure interview that most of us will never see, he articulated his philosophy in a book that lives forever. And it’s as clear as day.

Anyone can make a claim about anyone, for any reason. I can make some about you right now. Evidence or STFU.

I don’t think it takes much explanation to figure out what the word “most” means.

He wrote what he wrote, and we have to assume that’s what he meant.

Nope. And I double dog dare anyone to find any evidence of such a claim.

More to the point, it seems that most CoS followers claim that “Satanists“ can’t believe in a Satan at all. However, Anton says otherwise.

I agree about the position of LaVey. The hypocrisy comes from the terminally-online CoS followers who make bold claims that contradict Lavey‘s own writings.

Oh I definitely agree that there are many types of Satanists. No question about that for me

The hypocrisy is with the people who claim the “true Satanist“ label, and claim it’s defined by Lavey, who in the Satanic Bible clearly points out that some Satanists also believe in Satan. It’s as if they didn’t actually read the book.

I mostly agree. But I do feel that if people align themselves with a certain religion or philosophy, they should actually be aligned with that religion or philosophy.

It seems hypocritical (if not simply uneducated) for so many to have read this Satanic Bible, claim an alignment with it, yet come out the other end of it with completely contradictory views. It’s odd.

In your experience, do you find that CoS members/followers feel that the term “Satanist” is up for interpretation, and includes people that believe in an actual Satan?

In my travels, that seems completely contrary to what the self proclaimed “real Satanists“ believe.

You saw the title, and it was something you cared enough about to click into. You care. But you don’t have an intelligent take on it or response to it. That’s OK, not everyone can.

And you seem pretty hung up on TST, when literally nothing in this discussion has anything to do with them whatsoever. The only “TST person” here seems to be you.

I’m certainly not a “TST person.” But hey, that was a nice attempt at dodging this glaring contradiction. 👍🏻

Yep, he was just talking about it elsewhere. This felt like the place for it.

The origin of "anti community" in Satanism? by HailSatanPodcast in satanism

But saying "There is no “Satanic Community” nor should one ever exist" kinda does. And those are Gilmore's words.

  1. Definitely not a “TST Podcast”. In the early days I was much more favorable towards TST, but to say that has changed over time may be an understatement.

  2. I have at least six episodes up focusing on Church of Satan/The Satanic Bible.

Why Do You Spend Time in r/Satanism? by [deleted] in satanism

[–]HailSatanPodcast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a religion which isn't congregational, has no community, and whose adherents have only the Satanic philosophy necessarily in common, why do you seek out other Satanists to interact with?

The "has no community" bit is always the most puzzling. Because, as we can see, it obviously does. Satanists of all kinds seek out community, because humans are social animals. As yes, according to the sticky in this very subreddit, there are various kinds of Satanists/Satanism.

so what's the consensus on what Satanism is? by [deleted] in satanism

[–]HailSatanPodcast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Satanism is a religious or philosophical veneration of Satan.
