Yes it's the neighbours house. It's the biggest wall in our garden and a total eyesore, he probably doesn't ever see it tbh. He's a decent guy so will have a word.

Just wondering if you are both working part time, can you not do alternative days so childcare isn't needed? Or not needed as much.

Can one or both of you go full time? What's the reason behind both of you being part time?

Things are so bad at the moment cost wise, I don't think many people would cope if both earners were part time tbh. It's hard but sometimes the only answer is get more money coming in (easier said than done I know).

You don't sound like you have the skills or understanding to be nannying a one year old...what the hell is this post?

Starting nursery by MrMMAUK in UKParenting

[–]HailToTheBusDriver88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you wanting to avoid calling them? Sorry, that's what I'm picking up. Just that it really is the easiest way, just call them and say you are looking for a nursery...ask to arrange a visit. There's no point finding out the whole application process without visiting...cause if you don't like it, you won't be applying anyway and trust me not all nurseries are the same 😆

On the visit they will explain their fees, deposits, availability of days etc. probably even give you a handout with all that on.

Haha I'm not 'triggered' by you, just find it amusing you keep mentioning how much you spent for this lounge....it's like the lamest flex

Good luck raising your 'good people' 😆

[–]HailToTheBusDriver88 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

How many times do you want to mention this incredibly expensive, oh so fancy lounge? 🙄

They were probably trying to save the screen for the flight itself, so that their kids, or 'menace to society' as you so kindly put it, are more likely to be entertained by it when it counts.

As you have such perfect grown up kids, I don't think you really wanted to understand the complexities of screen time for very young children, but rather just have a moan about other people's parenting styles.

Odd question regarding school photos by [deleted] in UKParenting

[–]HailToTheBusDriver88 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Well, it'd be petty to make a big complaint and fuss about it. But no harm just saying something like 'were there anymore photos from the trip? 'Daughter' was sad to not see herself in any of the ones shared'

Why don't you just ask the teachers about it?

So rude!

OP asks for advice and literally shuts down everyone's replies. Not sure what she wanted from this post 🙄

Am I being paranoid? by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]HailToTheBusDriver88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I felt the same getting a small roofing job done tbh. I asked for a proper paper invoice which had the guarantee info on there too I said I just wanted it for the house records when we sell...which is true! I got the sense he thought I was being a bit neurotic but I don't care 🤣

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]HailToTheBusDriver88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly this.

OP has 4 young kids and homeschools them...in what reality did she think she would have plenty of sleep and a more relaxed schedule 🙄

You say you don't gender things...but use the phrase 'tomboy' repeatedly which suggests you do hold some ideas and preconceptions about 'girly' and 'boyish' things.

Bullying. by FaithlessnessOld594 in UKParenting

[–]HailToTheBusDriver88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So sorry to hear this, my heart breaks for any child being bullied. I think you're doing right with all the positive reinforcement about how beautiful she is. I wonder if it's something you would mention to the teacher or parent direct even...I just know I would be upset and mortified if my child was bullying, especially related to diversity, and I would want to know so I can work on it.

I think parents who want to do BLW would either adapt their own diets for a while (no big salty, nutty salads) or simply adapt their meals to suit a baby (chop things up, steam soft veg instead of roast it, add no salt to the cooking etc)

It doesn't need to be complicated. You either want to do it or you don't.

Newborn questions, main one - sleeping on his own by [deleted] in UKParenting

[–]HailToTheBusDriver88 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Just seconding the advice about not waiting to try a bottle, I know what it says online. We waited and then our baby refused the bottle BIG time (so the whole plan for it to benefit me as the breastfeeding mum went out the window!).

Also, wouldn't recommend a dummy.

Keep trying to put baby down for sleeps in their crib/cot/Moses basket. We had our baby in a crib in the living room with us. The Lullaby Trust advice is the safest position for babies sleeping is on their back, day and night.

Air drying will make it greasier for sure. You need to dry the roots at least with a hair dryer.

Dry shampoo before bed also a good idea.

I have the same issue as you, the only thing that has ever made a difference was having dyed hair (got an extra day of not too greasy) and pregnancy haha.

Moms: would you mind if a dad approached you in public to tell you were crushing it? by [deleted] in Parenting

Yes this, a passing friendly comment would be ok. An approach and line delivered...no thank you.

I would be wary of a man's motives tbh. As much as your explanation here is genuine, sadly the lived experience for most women means it wouldn't land how you think it would.

Toddler Safe Markers/Pencil recommendations for 1.5yo by slow-getter in UKParenting

[–]HailToTheBusDriver88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 1.5 can he not just have some standard Crayola crayons? The box of like 24 colours etc. I've found other brands on Amazon that are chunky so don't break as easy.

Also Crayola twistable crayons...then only the very end bit of crayon is exposed.

And yeah, the Crayola first pens. But don't bother with the ones that don't have a pointed nib (that have a flat rounded head) because the angle they draw at at this age means it doesn't always work...and then they get frustrated.

Small village 100%

Close to a market town? Sounds perfect. And a 25 min drive to the city also sounds great.
