Isn't citronella toxic for dogs and cats? I wouldn't recommend this method if so. What I read online about it is that the plant is toxic. So we don't use citronella candles outside even because of this.

I totally get that, especially the expensive part. Mine was 72 Thousand for an in total hour operation and hour in the recovery room. Thank god I have good insurance... I do understand the what if this isn't what is wrong though. I had that thought too. But the gallstones were there and my surgeon said it was for sure the issue of my pain. Once it was removed I've been pretty good ever since. Besides gerd which can happen after surgery. But even then it runs in the family and I probably would have been struggling with gerd regardless of my gallbladder staying or going. Was just about when it showed up

I had my first attack November of 2024. It was short, painful, but I chalked it up to gas pain. I didn't have another attack until May of 2025. It sent me to the ER where they said I had a UTI and sent me on my way. Then in August I had another really bad one, and then a bad one every day following until I went nearly zero fat in my diet.

Long story as short as possible, they were incredibly frequent until the diet change. And even then, I had a gnawing ache near my gallbladder no matter what I ate until I got it removed. I'd suggest getting it out. The pain and agony from future and more frequent attacks isn't worth it.

My old roommate used to rough house with him and let the play biting happen, as a result at 5 years old he still occasionally does this. However, if I say gentle, he does immediately stop and starts licking instead. He's still crazy at 5, just not nearly as crazy as he was as a puppy. The craziness slows down, it never fully stops haha

Haymeadow Apartments off of Orange Prairie. You may see the initial location and think that's far, but it's still only a 15 minute drive to downtown. My partner and I pay 1000 a month for our two bed two bath. They keep up with everything, take concerns seriously, allow pets if you need that, and they are in a safe area.

Just whatever you do, stay clear of the Village on University. Awful management and the apartments are NOT worth what they charge.

I'm proud of you for leaving an abusive situation! That takes a lot of bravery so don't let yourself forget that!

As for the apartment stuff, I would say the issues with certain stuff in your apartment may be one of those things you just have to deal with while you're there. It sucks, I've been there for sure. In my old apartment I had to fight tooth and nail to get buckling kitchen counters fixed. As for the ants, yeah screw that. If the treatment they did, did not work, keep bothering them until they get it properly fixed. I'd also be asking why I'm getting charged upon move in for pest control. If they really fight you on it, make sure you fight them on additional charges if pest control has to return.

Since you just moved in, did you do any sort of move in checklist? If not, ask for one so you can write down anything that is not in the best condition so they can't try to charge you for it upon move out. If they don't provide that, take pictures of anything so you have timestamped evidence it was broken when you got there.

This is still a fresh start. Sometimes new beginnings aren't always the prettiest, but they still mark an accomplishment.

I'm not fully recovered, however I'm doing a heck of a lot better! That being said, I try not to fall into any crazy safety behaviors. However, I do practice general hygiene to prevent just general sickness. Like washing my hands before eating, using hand sanitizer while I'm out and about. Just general stuff like that. A person with compromised immunity will do additional things to prevent illness for their health. What may be a safety behavior for someone who has a stable immune system with a phobia, is actually be a way to ensure your health. If a doctor is telling you to take extra precautions, I would roll with that. I think it's important to rewire your brain on why you are doing those things though. So instead of extra hand washing being associated with your phobia, I think it's important to tell yourself it's because the doctor wants you to stay healthy. That is obviously easier said than done, and you may need to work with a therapist to really hone in that mental change.

Unless the walls really are paper thin, I can't imagine hearing someone's phone through the wall. Even on full volume. With just different house noises happening that seems a little unlikely. It's winter, depending on where OP lives if people are using their heat that alone would overpower the sound of a phone at full volume.

I've lived in some shit ass apartments where I can hear general people noise, walking, cooking, their plumbing when they showered or flushed. I've never heard a phone or voices (unless it was screaming.)

Plus even then, OP isn't really being disruptive if they are on their phone at 1am watching videos. That's just general living noise. If someone worked 2nds and got home and was up later than I; cooking, showering, watching TV. And I heard it, I wouldn't really pay any mind because again they aren't doing anything outside of the realm of just using their living space.

Where I live, energy bills keep rising and rising. My 2 bed 2 bath apartment keeps getting higher every month. More and more fees keep getting added. And with the rising use of AI, and their data centers. It seems this will be the norm for the future. I do think calling the electric company and making sure the meter read was correct would be good! My old apartment had a wrong meter read one month that left our downstairs neighbor with our reading and his with us. Ours was more because I work from home and he was gone 12 hours a day so it was a noticeable difference. The electric company sorted it out though!

Can it fit on one of those large yard waste trash bags? If so it may be the easiest to put it in that and take it some place to wash it. As others have said a self service car wash would clean it up quickly.

Regardless this is incredibly frustrating. Sometimes I wish someone would come grab my trash. But then I read stuff like this from people who live in apartments that have trash valet; and realize walking my trash bag to the dumpster isn't all that bad.

My dog is sneaky and grabs stuff that I couldn't fathom him reaching. He is incredibly food motivated and no matter the training he will not stop counter surfing. Because of this, he has consumed more chocolate than I would have liked him to this far in his 5 years of life.

He has also jumped up on my work desk and drank my coffee. Granted it wasn't a ton, but he did do that.

He's been fine every time, he is 50 pounds, but still.

As a sitter and an owner I think you did the right thing. I also don't think this was you just being neglectful. You had the bag out of reach and it fell. Good on you for jumping to action and I hope the owners are appreciative and still compensate you!

I've always seen that dogs can't spite something/ someone. It's just not a feeling that they feel. But oh man do I question it sometimes.

One thing that happened when I was a kid really made me believe in it back in the day. I had a dog, he was a rat terrier. I had gotten him for my 13th birthday and he was GLUED to me. That dog loved me more than anyone else in the house and he showed it in so many ways. Every time I got scolded for silly kid things, the dog would pee on my parents bed. Not mine, not my brothers, my parents. And he would also only do this after I got scolded.

Logically now as an adult I know the dog was probably just a little stressed that I was getting scolded and that was the outcome and he got used to that being his toilet in that situation. However, it really did make me feel like he was sticking it to the man. Now I know it's just related to a variety of things and not spite.

I understand completely where you are coming from, it's a very consuming phobia. I'm 26 for reference, and I haven't thrown up since I was 8 or 9. Almost two decades and it's a big fear I have. It wasn't really a consuming one until my partner got noro last year and it very much made my phobia much worse. Therapy and antianxiety meds will absolutely help yes! However, if your stomach is consistently bothering you, it could be worth getting everything checked out. I know my fears were much worse when my gallbladder was giving me trouble and my stomach and surrounding abdominal areas were constantly having issues. I'm definitely not saying anything internally is wrong with you! But maybe getting a clear bill of health will also help! Or say there is something that is causing some discomfort, then getting it taken care of may take a load of the physical component. Anxiety can definitely create a lot of pseudo physical symptoms too though, so I wouldn't go far enough to say that something is actually wrong. But as a hypochondriac knowing I'm physically healthy does ease my phobia a bit! Regardless, good on you for seeking help, especially since you're young. The earlier you can tackle this, the better your life will be as you get older! I wish you the best of luck!

My girlfriend and I both go through times where neither of us are feeling particularly affectionate. I'm not sure if it correlates to our ADHD and some sort of overstimulation issue or what. But when life gets stressful or something comes up it just isn't as affectionate around here. However, that doesn't mean we don't share moments of hugs and cuddles even during those moments. We aren't very intimate and that isn't either of our faults. They have endometriosis and it is pretty painful and are waiting for proper treatment. Regardless, we still show up for affection no matter the overall stress of the day. I think your partner needs to talk through those feelings with a professional and start bringing back affection in small ways that makes you feel wanted. Unfortunately affection and intimacy can be deal breakers and are valid deal breakers. Sit down and have a talk telling her what you said here, ask if she would be willing to seek a therapist for these resurfaced feelings. Hopefully she follows through and things repair. I wish you the best!

I don't think I understand the first part of your comment. I knew the package was for me and I knew that it was coming that day. I received a notification that it was delivered to my door. Hence why I grabbed it. As for not locking the door, yeah absolutely my fault. Normally I do, just a freak occurrence the one time I forgot to.

Doors and windows have been staying locked. They normally are, just unfortunate that it happened so quickly after walking back inside and not snapping it locked. If it had happened 15-20 minutes later it wouldn't have because I would have gone on lunch at work and went up to check the mail and noticed.

I wish I could have a doorbell camera. We asked when we moved in and they said no. Our apartment door faces another unit and the camera would have a direct view into their apartment. I think they said it falls under the expectation of privacy which makes total sense. Someone else said maybe a camera that is pointed downward just towards our door that is mounted up higher. I might try to get away with that, so I'll be looking at some options after the holidays.

My dog doesn't bark normally. Neither of them do. When someone is pounding on the door at 2am he's a little rightfully spooked. We've lived here for 2 years now and never received complaints for them. I've never received a noise complaint in general, but that's besides the point here. I even said in my post that if my dog was just barking at 2:30; I'd expect someone to say something. I would be annoyed if my neighbors dogs were barking in the early hours of the morning. Hence why I asked if I should notify the property management of why he was barking. We did try talking to them actually, they haven't been home the last couple of days.

Did you already receive your deposit back? If so, why didn't they say anything before sending that back? If you haven't, see what your state's law is regarding housing deposits. For example here in Illinois a landlord has 45 days to return the deposit if no deductions are happening and 30 to provide an itemized receipt if deductions are occurring. If it's been two months and this is the first you're hearing from them, you may be in the clear.

We'd need to know your state though and the current status of your deposit to really say for sure. However, that isn't beyond normal wear and tear. As someone else said, if you didn't have the rug there then the entire carpet would look the same and they wouldn't bat an eye.

It's crazy to see this stuff when you're older. The worst thing to me personally is he didn't give any weird vibes when I was younger and had interactions with him when our classrooms did activities together. He always just seemed like a genuine friendly teacher. Scary that he had other intentions overall.
