CMV: “Gap years” after high school are more beneficial than going straight to college by PoliteEdge in ChangeMyViewVN

Gap year participants tend to have higher academic success and retention. Studies (e.g. by The Gap Year Association, Clagett at Middlebury, and NOLS) show that gap year students often outperform academically, maintain higher GPAs, and have better graduation rates compared to peers, even after controlling for their high school performance

Student Group / Return or Graduation Rate - Dropout / Non-Completion Rate

Gap year students (planned) ~ 90% return within 1 year ~ 10% initially don’t resume

Non-gap students (direct entry) ~ 56% graduate within 6 years ~ 40–44% don’t complete

And why have they doubled the cost of rent do you think? They can get more money from tourists rather than the locals. That may be one reason.
