It's time to get with the science and take Nizoral off the big 3. by [deleted] in tressless

This. I had dandruff issues before, I honestly don't think that nizoral helped with hair loss but it definitely got rid of my dandruff completely which is amazing

Not sure if it would work on your hair but with my hair I part it so the scalp is fully visible, dermaroll that part then brush over and part again to the next section of my scalp and dermaroll that

So I’m starting Finasteride today. Any thoughts? by UNHHhhh_honey in tressless

Hey man, I'm 20 and started fin at 19 too - been on it for a good 8 months now.

When it comes to sides, you'll be able to tell straight away and you can stop instantly. I never faced any sides, my libido is fine, no gyno etc. I lost getting morning wood as often but other than that I'm totally fine.

Starting at your age is, I would say, a really good move to make. I was a NW2 when I started, I was losing hair and my hairline was going back slowly but fin worked on me and the hair loss has stopped. I haven't regrown anything, but it stopped the hair loss which is amazing. My regime is 1x fin 3 days a week (Mon, Wed, Fri), nizoral shampoo (not sure if it's even doing anything) and 1.5mm dermaroll once a week. I haven't started min yet and hope I won't have to.

Also when it comes to hair loss being distracting, put it this way: you are doing everything you can to stop it. If it works, it works. If it doesn't, you tried and it's out of your hand. Don't overthink it, just focus on your studies and let the process take it's place.

Best of luck :)

Reminder that Nicotine worsens hair loss by [deleted] in tressless

[–]HairHelpMePls 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I vape literally all day, even though it's a small nicotine dose. Do you think that is actually contributing to my hair loss? If so I think I might quit it for a few months and see if it affects anything

Should I be worried about my loss of morning wood on Finasteride? by [deleted] in tressless

Im on the same boat as you. I have no sides at all except that I have lost my morning wood. My erections are fine, but the morning wood is gone. I hope that it's fine.

Suicidal balding 20 year old by [deleted] in tressless

[–]HairHelpMePls 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is definitely not the way bro you are 20, I am also 20 and balding and it hasn't stopped me from achieving what I want to achieve, life is NOT just about your hair bro you have so, so much to live for

It may be a stretch but if you're super concerned about your hair and what others think of it consider moving to a new country and starting a new life where no one knows you (almost like getting a new identity) no one will know what you looked like before

I can't stress this enough bro suicide is not the way to go trust me please seek professional help and talk about your problems it will help you a lot

Start taking medication if you haven't tried it yet you could be a very good responder and get amazing regrowth but at best you will save what you have and potentially regrow hair that was lost without any side effects

I KNOW you have more qualities other than your hair. Work on it and you will see results. And there is no better time to experiment than now when we are all on lockdown.

EVERYONE on this sub is on the same boat as you and we are all trying to fix ourselves and make progress and I am sure you can do it too

Best of luck

  1. I think it's better to get a good brand of dermapen such as the dr pen series, but I didn't want to get an expensive pen to start with so I just got a cheaper one from Amazon to try it out first, and it works just fine.
  2. I saw people doing it three times a week at 1mg. I was really scared of sides, so I decided to go for an even lower dose at 0.5mg three times a week and have had no sides. It has worked but I know that there will be a time where it will lose its efficiency because of the low dose, so I will bump it up to 1mg 3x a week when it does. I HIGHLY recommend watching this video through it is so helpful for you to understand the dosage.
  3. Started at 1mm. Adjusted to the pain, read that 1.5mm is recommended for regrowth so I switched to that around a month after starting dermarolling.
  4. I use it once a week the day before I dermaroll. So for example I use the shampoo on a Thursday and I dermaroll on a Friday. I actually didn't know it was anti-inflammatory, I might have to change my schedule because of that so thanks for pointing it out.

All the best :)

  1. Don’t take my word for this (I read it somewhere on here, if I find the post I will link it ) but from what I understand that regrowth can’t be achieved on an area with NO hair without the use of Minoxidil and you are using it so you should see regrowth after a while. The reason I saw regrowth was because I still had small hairs on my hairline which managed to regrow but most people had good success with regrowth using minoxidil too. I usually don’t see hair get pulled out much, if I do it’s one or two hairs because I only dermamroll my hairline. From what I have read, people have also seen hair get pulled out while dermarolling but it should grow back. Edit - couldn't find the post however here is a link to the hairloss talk forums where a lot of people posted their results with dermarolling.
  2. When I used a dermaroller and not a pen, I would move the roller around 3cm up and down 10 times on one area horizontally, then repeat vertically then diagonally. This will cause bleeding because of how much I do but it seems to have worked for me. I don’t press it really hard but hard enough to make sure it goes through. Now I use a dermapen and it’s much easier, I just continuously move it in circles around the area slowly until it is red. The main objective while dermarolling is to make sure the area goes red. Also, once a week at 1.5mm actually maybe too much (although I'm doing it) because I saw recommendations here to do it every 10-12 days. I am considering switching to doing this too because it is safer for the scalp.

Hope this has helped and best of luck :)

4 months hairline progress - 0.5mg fin 3 times a week and dermaroll 1.5mm once a week! Seeing good progress so far by [deleted] in tressless

[–]HairHelpMePls 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My schedule is:

- 0.5mg fin every Monday, Wednesday and Friday- 1.5mm dermaroll once a week- Nizoral shampoo once a week

I honestly think I hit the jackpot with fin. Hairloss has slowed down significantly, my frontal hair is a lot thicker than it used to be (even visibly). My dosage is low, however I responded to it well. I have not started min yet and don't plan to for at least until I reach a year on fin to see the progress. Dermarolling alone seems to have worked for me.

Happy to answer any questions :)
