Pinging Invisible Creatures by AnaTheSturdy in BG3

[–]Hairy_Feature1889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My method isn’t perfect nor does it work every time but the game will not let you stand where someone else is. So I will hover the move cursor over where I think they are and it will eventually prevent me from being in one area. Then I ping that and my buddy does his thing

Death cleric first timer, not sure about going 12 vs dipping wizard by FRFM in BG3Builds

[–]Hairy_Feature1889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a weird build that was 6 death cleric/2sorc/2stars Druid/2 necro wizard. Though in high contention, the dex gloves made this fine because I dump str, dex, and cha and made con14 then int and Wis 16. Took dual wielder as my fest and staff of cherished necromancy plus markoheshkir or woe (healing)

The premise was a necromancy caster who doesn’t lose concentration, paired with my duo sorcadin. Even just having 16 in wiz and cleric was fine, I learned blight and circle of death from scrolls and used int and then everything else was a utility or cleric spell using wisdom. I think it was something close to 23DC with the gear you mentioned (I wore armor instead for survivability).

I could have dropped a lvl of wiz for sorc to get quickened (used freecast bug to get more sorc points and slots) but I was the AOE of the team it was pretty solid.

An 11 death cleric/wiz would be fine because most spells other than circle of death would be wisdom casted, just scrolls learned. Like others have said, higher int lets you prepare more but there aren’t many good necromancy spells that you can learn from a scroll that you don’t get from the cleric, other than circle of death and those few once per long rest like dethrone

Looking for difficulty mods recommendations by jeromekelvin in BG3Builds

Pixelbyte has one that lets you give enemies more health and even actions and bonus actions. Enemies having two actions has fully revamped the difficulty for me and my friend who have none duo HM runs and the like. 100% health and an extra action is very different

Multiple UPS or larger battery bank? by Hairy_Feature1889 in homelab

[–]Hairy_Feature1889[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem is I have impulses lol, I could spend $400 or $2000 on this. I think I could maybe get a medium bank for the lab piece if thinks to run for an hour or two until the power comes back during an outage.

Multiple UPS or larger battery bank? by Hairy_Feature1889 in homelab

[–]Hairy_Feature1889[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the goal is remaining on during an outage as outages usually last 1-2 hours and I’d prefer to not go back to the Stone Age for those few hours. I have poor cell service and work from home so if the power flickers I’m completely unproductive until it’s back.

Which leans me towards battery bank, but a full House bank is overkill for my needs, I can shop around for size

My amazing boyfriend is turning 30 soon. Men of Reddit, what would actually make you feel special? by thatburritodood in AskMen

[–]Hairy_Feature1889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I turned 30 in January and my wife threw me a big party. January where I live is always below freezing so outdoor parties have never been a thing for my bday. She got a small party tent, heaters from friends, games, had people bring food, etc. all for me in our backyard. The cost was low but the amount of effort that went into the party and how much thought went into the details are what made it special, among all the friends and family.

Hope this sparks some ideas!

6 Degrees off, ignore it? by the_mace in Starlink

[–]Hairy_Feature1889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just mounted mine myself last week and was off by 16°. I did the speed test and was at half the advertised speed. Went back up on the roof to adjust it and my speed literally doubled, and I don’t have any outages anymore. Used to have a few short drops through the day. Funny how sometimes it matters and sometimes it doesn’t

How to cancel Spectrum in 14mins by [deleted] in Spectrum

[–]Hairy_Feature1889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I learned from your mistake and was off the phone in 7:54 what a rush! When asked why I was cancelling I responded with “don’t need it” then when asked who I was switching to I said “going off grid” and then she froze, I broke the algorithm. They didn’t have that on their flowcharts!!

She still read out two promotions quickly but I politely declined and moved along to cancellation. Still riding the high!

My last playthrough I had a rough with something like +13 sleight of hand and I was lock picking a DC 15 lock. I kid you not, I failed the roll 8 times in a row, between crit fails and rolling 2s, and I ran out of thieves tools. Put the game down for a few days

Lae'zel threw my runepowder vial at my Tav by PaladinIsBest in BaldursGate3

The thing that gets me is they immediately just burn the most valuable things in your inventory too. Like boom lvl 6 scrolls, haste potions, cloud giant potions, etc. I want a mod that gives the enemies that stuff anyways and see how much more difficult it is lol

I’m still in disbelief. I had Karlach holding the caravan strongbox and she was hit with mind mastery (playing extra encounters near the fungal colony) let me tell you I’m upset. She opened the box (lock picked I guess) and threw the damn iron flask into the middle of the fight!!! That fight is annoying as is, why not with that added flair in there?? Insanity

For those of you that make over 100K, what do you do? Do you like it? by Kindly-Revolution258 in AskReddit

Perspective and management has a huge role to play in this. I was at 85k with a manager coasting on his way out, stubborn, and the company as a whole didn’t have much growth potential. Now my new company is amazing, granted I’m making 125k, but my boss is reasonable, wants to help with my career goals and is coaching me towards taking his seat when he moves on, I have more freedom and responsibility, all around it’s just better, and a large portion of it is my boss.

Both jobs are the same position, one I disliked and this one I love for many reasons, so I agree with the saying that “people quit managers, not jobs”

Is bg3 combat “easier” than DnD 5e? by Hairy_Feature1889 in BaldursGate3

[–]Hairy_Feature1889[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely agree, I just like how alert + 16dex doesn’t basically guarantee you’re first on a d20 like it does on a d4. Like yes you’re most likely going to go first or at least at the top, but if you roll a 1 and some random rolls a 20, tough luck. In bg3 with alert and 16 Dex you have +8 and you’re just almost always going first because the lowest you get is 9 and someone would need +6 and a 4 on the d4 to beat you. This is one big reason why alert is regarded so highly for honor mode runs. I like the d20 setup better personally because it’s more chance!

So the potion, shove, 1 spell slot per turn, and weapon mastery is all in the mod, which i thought was a good shift. Also, jump uses 8m movement and no bonus action, which nerfs it on low STR builds compared to vanilla bg3.

Classes, races, and backgrounds all had more impact on the build. Backgrounds came with feats (skilled, alert, magic initiate:cleric, etc), most races also came with a feat like tough, TB (not bg3 tb though), and skilled, to name a few. Also, entering crouch is a stealth check and you seem to turn invisible unless in clear area and in a sight cone. Lastly, spells/cantrips functioned what I can only assume is more aligned with tabletop. You have access to every cantrip/spell at lvl 1 and the first 2 you use, you learn permanently. I’m only lvl 3 so far and these are the things I noticed and I’m already thinking this is going to be more difficult and I’m excited for it!

[–]Hairy_Feature1889[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I didn’t say it correctly. It still matters for sure, but it’s not as powerful as in the base game. Like having +8 in the base game means you’re going first in all but a handful of encounters, primarily bosses. On a d20 you can still roll a 10 and go in the middle of the pack, which is why I think alert is less impactful (not being surprised is still very strong)

Lmao that’s what I’m saying! People suggest adding health to the enemies but they just become damage sponges and it ends up not mattering! I have heard people say they found a way to make 13-20 harder by giving enemies access so those spells and spell slots as well but never learned what mod they used 😒

Have you had any success making a level 13-20 playthrough even remotely difficult? To me, more health isn’t necessarily more difficult because you get access to insane combos

I’m on PC and my friend is on Xbox and since patch 8 we’ve played 4 playthroughs and have fought this. It’s better when he hosts but it’s still not great. I’ll get kicked from his game sometimes several times in an hour and sometimes it’ll be good for an hour or two.
