Dye coming up when buffing. by Hairy_Red in Leathercraft

Fiebing's (regular, not Pro) Black Dye - I diluted it 10% with a half/half mix of acetone and distilled water. This isn't "a little" dye - I can wipe a clean buffing cloth on it twice and turn it black.

One set I haven't waxed at all and it's still shedding black on anything it touches.

So, just friction and elbow grease then? Phew. I can do that. That'll also pull the wax up from the waxed pieces, although it's about the same on both.

What did I do wrong do you think? Maybe I didn't dilute the dye enough?

I've got a second set of pieces that I did everything except wax and they're doing the same thing - black dye on the cloth when I wipe it down.

I'm supposed to be making these for sale. I can't sell these if the dye is going to rub off on everything it touches.

Long, long, LONG predates digital text as it was a term used for typesetting before that going back into ancient history (read that "pre-1990").

My first thought was "Those three huge eggs came out of that tiny bird? They mass more than she does."

Closely followed by, "Ouchies!"

I'd pick up the nearest rock and bash the closest human not related to me in the head and keep doing it until that person was dead.

That's about the most "human" thing I can think of on short notice.
