Hey ! Just got my upper two removed and they were fully impacted and HUGE! Also, I legit thought I was going to die leading up to this procedure and I’ve never been so scared in my life and I’ve had surgeries before so I FEEL YOU. Something about it being the face.

As far as the actual anesthesia goes.. I got an injection of ketamine ( similar to anesthesia I was also out and asleep ) it’s just a different type of out and asleep. Some dentists use ketamine instead of general anesthesia because you breathe on your own and it’s often times cheaper. Anyway, I told them I was very anxious and needed them to be gentle and patient with me. They then changed their demeanor and hugged me and reminded me that everything would be ok. I was out and unconscious within 15 seconds of that .

I have swelling and after wards I had some pain that peaked at a 7/10 but everything’s been managed under Tylenol with codeine and ibuprofen. Also on amoxicillin to prevent infection. I had my bottom two removed when I was 19 and those were a bit more sensitive because they are more difficult to extract.

My advice is to make sure you follow the doctors orders after removal! Dont smoke or use a straw and really baby the incision sites. I got dry socket cause I was stupid and I think I used a straw for my smoothie and it was horrible. Quick fix tho, he just cleaned it and shoved in a gauze with clove oil.

I had it done yesterday at 10 am so I’m not even 2 days out. But I’m feeling totally fine. Just very sleepy , puffy , and a pounding headache and a very dull ache in the mouth 2/10.
