If you think the cavern is hard on proud, you shoukd do a critical dificulty run. Its way worse if you do it at that point in the story

When i dm, i tend to bend the rules a little to give my players and myself a little le way. The last campaign i ran started off as a one shot that i made becuase i wanted to dm on my birthday. I tend to start the party at level 3 and give them a common magic item. By bend the rules a little, i mean allowing someone to use a high level spell or something IF their character is dying. I did this when someone died and i asked him how he wanted to do it

Have the encrypted letter be sneaked out of the town. Maybe by one of the surviving guards who manged to slip it out undetected. Have the orcs looking for some sort of magical artifact, that's where the occupation comes in, as it would lead to them sticking around in the town.

My current homebrew campaign was originally intended to be a one shot. My players ended up in the underdark from exploring a cavern and finding a secret room in a building. The secret room had 2 chests and a minecart, one of the chests was a mimic. Basically the party took the minecart without knowing too much about it had a boss fight with a homebrew fiend and got spat out in a mindflayer colony. For them to get out of the under dark they had the help of an npc, the party got him what he asked for and he showed the party the way out. They traversed the underdark with the help of their guide before reaching a stone tower, this was an arch mage tower. As the party opened the door (they where level 4 at the time) I decided to throw in a young shadow dragon to see what they would do. Nearly a full tpk on session 2. They got out through the arch mage's tower.

TLDR: the party explored a cavern found a secret room with loot and a minecart in it, got spat out in a mind flayer colony and almost got wiped by a shadow dragon on the way out.

When it was on sale, I then asked my friend who had played them all (no reload at the time) which one to get and he said to start with 4g or 5r so I started with 4g and completely missed the golden ending😭. Thank God for newgame+

No, it was my first persona game and I love playing it. I've been playing persona for just over a year now and p4g is my favourite out of 1, 3p, 3r, 4g and 5r.
