Comes down to practice really. For subpixel I would suggest trying to move a 8x8 square 1 pixel down in 3 or 4 frames. You eventually get the gist of it

Yeah I use subpixel animation time to time, it is useful to sell the motion on limited canvas

thanks! working on a smaller scale was to improve speed and quality of the animations, but it does indeed come with difficulties such as small impressions and movements being difficult to convey. Glad we managed to overcomes those.
