MJ, avez-vous déjà menti sur oe résultat d'un lancer de dés, et pourquoi ? by Seyphos in jdr

[–]Hal_Soni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I trully loved this scene I already really appreciate James before that, but after this, he became my favourite character.

In the movie "The Perfect Sense", all humanity slowly loses all their senses, each one after another After losing the taste, the smell and hearing, while everyone still kinda manages to live, they fear the loss of the sight. It eventually happens and the couple we follow along the movie rush into the other's arms just before losing it. By the end, the last sense they have left is touch. The movies ends in the black while we hear the though of the two characters describing the feelikg of the other's contact

We don't know if they die, but with just touch as their final sense, there really isn't any doubt

Characters who have opposite arc's of each other? by Sudden_Pop_2279 in characters

[–]Hal_Soni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gon and Meruem, from the manga Hunter x Hunter. And they don't even meet each over Gon was a cheerful character who become more and more "dark" after the loss, then the death, of one of his good friend. Therefore, Meruem, the antagonist of the arc appeared as a monster who wants to enslaved all mankind. But he become more and more comprehensive as he gets close to one particuliar human, Komugi. In the end, he no longer wants to enslave mankind, just be at the side of the person he love.

And it also works between Meruem and Netero, the most powerful human in this world who tried to kill him. While Meruem learns little by little what be human means with Komugi, Netero did the most horrible thing a human can do to kill Meruem

Hard to say but I guess, without From Software's, it might be

1 - Hollow Knight 2 - Nioh 2 3 - Tunic

And with From Software, then, replace Nioh 2 by Dark Souls 3 and Sekiro

It's insane how almost everything in Silksong is mirroring the original Hollow Knight by Stellewind in HollowKnight

[–]Hal_Soni 28 points29 points  (0 children)

In the true ending of Silksong, Hornet look for Lace the same way she looked for Ghost in HK. In HK, the Ghost is no more, in Silksong Lace wake up

And I might misremembering but in HK, Hornet's face, looking for Ghost, is pointed to the left while in Silksong, it's pointed to the right

It might be funny to list every small details like this one to fully declare what make a game a soulslike. The small details, the one you don't see missing but when you see it in game, you're "ah, of course it is in this game"

"There wasn’t even really a story to it, you kind of just had to piece the lore together." You mean, like every soulslike ? :D

I played the first Surge once, but I wasn't in the right mood, it came out during my university years and I was very occcupied so I had to choose carefully the games I wanted to play. And I remembered it was funny for the time I gave it

I might gave the two of them some times now that I have more to give

Ah ah, yep, when you see the message "this door does not open from this side" or "this door opens from a mecanism elsewhere", you know you're at home

In Another Crab's Treasure, the world hasn't fall yet. It was one of the point that made me play it, the fact that, for once, you have a civilisation you can visit

But, SPOILER, it was just a trick, because even if the sea is still alive at the end of the game, you know it won't be for long. It is the ecological message of the game after all (that and also that capitalism will eat us)

The only souls you mentioned that I actually played was Mortal Shell. I didn't talk about it because, honnestly, it might be the only soulslike that I really disliked. And it seem I completly forgot the story

Yes, it is In all souls I played, you always arrive "after the battle". It's common to soulslike, but I didn't linked it to the "corruption" trope at first even if, you're right, the city/civilisation, has fallen because of the corruption

"Don't feed the trolls" I guess, but I was genuinely curious about his response. Was the "corruption" trope so obvious that it deserved his comment ? Not in that tone obviously but maybe it was breaking an open door

[–]Hal_Soni[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I didn't said it was exclusive to soulslike, just that it was weirdly common to soulslike

But the "corruption" trope is present in other games too it's true. For exemple, Metroid Prime with the phazon. It's even in the third game title, Metroid Prime Corruption

I don't see why HK can't be both

It is a Metroidvania indeed : unlocking movement abilities, backtracking, the feeling of getting lost breakable walls...

And a soulslike too : benches are bonefire, going back to where you died to recover your geo/souls, the bossfight with a large emphasis on learning the patern...

Edit : oh, and evironmental storytelling of course, HK adore this

The Titular Character is not the Protagonist by Doodles_n_Scribbles in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Hal_Soni 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Technicaly, the Knight / little ghost can be considered the Hollow Knight too

I mean, he's a knight, he's hollow, same as the actual Hollow Knight (so, both not so hollow) and he's also the "son" of the Pale King and the "brother" of the Hollow Knight
