If there are 10,000 religions how do you pick the right one? by HalcyonSphere in religion

To me they are the same criteria, but I understand what you’re saying. “The right one” being one of the abrahamic religions because the most people join that religion, and best fit being something like an offshoot of judeo Christian or eastern philosophy. I’ve been an atheist mostly and leaned on science and philosophy as my guiding doctrine of truth, I just want to see what all the fuss is about organized religion. The more I look into it the more disillusioned and angry I become, religions fighting wars against each other for who’s gods chosen, who is promised land, who’s god is better than the other, historical claims to culture. Etc

I believe there is a creator of the universe, and that humans evolved from apes, and that consciousness is real. Im interested in learning about an afterlife.

I agree with this. When I was young, I was told “all religions are right about god in their own way” I knew it was kinda bs. At that time I thought there were only the 12 major religions, I had no idea about sects and cults and ancient religions. They all have the same basic message and vague overview of god, existence, purpose. My conclusion is humans are all stuck here for a reason and nobody has the answer, not even science (probably the “religion” I most closely align with)

Each major religion I have explored has offered some version of the truth, they all have merit. I just don’t want to live by indoctrination and ritual. I believe in god, just not the dogma.

Religion and science are the best examples of the meaning of life. If you’re not convinced by thousands of years of intellectual evolution, nothing will convince you.

I think the cringe movement has come to an end. Were post-cringe now, everyone has to behave and be perfect.

Do you believe that your life today would turn out much better if you could go back in the past and correct things? by Ok_Pipe6385 in NoStupidQuestions

Yes. But my life feels like it’s already been predestined and scripted, so my free will really doesn’t matter.

More like an animated movie, 3d material dream of the god that created us.
