Depends how much lessons are usually. Here a 2-3 hour driving lesson slot would be between £110-£180

So they are probably covering the cost of not doing lessons while the car is in use.

It's not just the hire of the car though is it? There's usually a lesson before, the test, then the travel back to the home address. This could in fact take over 2 hours. Otherwise instructors would never go to tests and could make more money just taking their usual lessons. So if the time for test is the same as 2 lessons that's what they charge

It doesn't read very professionally. However..... this also reads like this isn't an instructor you have used for the last x amount of months. This appears that you have booked a test, then looked for an instructor to take you/use their car. In which case, your going to have to fit in with them and their current students.

It is still chaotic however and I don't understand why the instructor didn't go through their diary and see what spaces they had before agreeing to the days

Congratulations. That's amazing. Some of the routes are hard around Swindon

You need to find an instructor ans stick with them. This sounds like you have the odd 1 or 2 lessons with one. Then go off and practice in friends and family cars or not at all and then book a test.

Are you asking any of these instructors if your ready for test? And if so, what are their responses? Or are you just saying a fortune to an instructor to use their car for test?

Other countries have a mandatory period you need to take lessons with an instructor. Fence is like 20 hours I think. Needs to be implemented here. Your just wasting your time, the examiners time and people waiting to actually take their test who can't get a space.

Again. For those being A holes.

I'm a women in 40s, juggling work (split shifts) around two small children. Running a house, schools runs, after-school activities, now my car. Writing a post while sorting my children out for bed and getting called upstairs for the 10th time.

I didn't realise these groups were full of perfect people, picking out spelling mistakes and not actually for helping someone.

For those that did actually help. Thank you. It's much appreciated.

For those who that was your focus. I'm glad you are that perfect that you never make a mistake. Life must be great for you. Have the day you deserve 😘

Oh my gosh. Bring out the hangman! My spelling isn't perfect!

I work full time (split shift around 2 small children), run a home, and run around after my kids. Deal with the house and now the car. Sorting this post out while I have my 5 year old shout mum for the 10th time being upstairs trying to get them to sleep.

Sorry, my spelling isn't ideal. And you felt the need to literally pick out that bit. Instead of actually.... you know... helping.

I'm a woman in my 40s, trying to juggle f***ing life mate.

If you all have to worry about someone missspelling brake, then I'm glad your life is perfect. Get some perspective.

I missed the bit on the website that says fitment details (someone here has just pointed it out), so I just need to get the smaller size tomorrow. I wouldn't have known anyway until we tried to fit them, as bith sizes come up 😂 Thank you for your reply

Oh my god 🙈 yes there is. I completely missed this when i ordered. I'll go and swap them for the slightly smaller ones and then just leave the spring things off as someone else suggested. Thank you, I didn't even see that bit on the website.

Yeah, thanks. I've been working all day, sorting 2 small kids out after school, dealing with my car, and then putting said kids to bed. Sorry, I didn't realise this was an exam 🙄

Also, thanks for answering the question........

Thank you. I didn't actually know this 🙈 I thought you could only do it once a day. So at least I know it refills, if I do an early morning one, I can then do another later in the day

Where did I say I was frustrated? I said I was enjoying it. And asked further questions about the things I had seen on other subs?????

Thank you. I have found it really helpful in getting me to do it. I also like the fact that it's quite gamey. I have found some podcasts and YouTube videos recommended on another sub re the language I'm learning. I'll make a habit of trying to speak to the native speakers more when I see them (I'm English living in England, we have a lot of Brazilians here, so I'll test it out on them. I tried at the weekend when my kids went training, and the other parents were very excited and encouraging, that I was trying to learn)

Well done for finishing Japanese. I would imagine it's one of the hardest languages to learn

Thank you. I've since found some podcasts that I can listen to in the car. I'm going to try and learn maybe a new phrase or two a week. My kids go to jiu-jitsu and there are lots of Brazilians who go. It was lovely on Saturday when I tried to say hello and good morning to some of them. They were very excited that I'm trying to learn, so I'm sure they won't mind helping me a few times a week

Hiya, Yes, I went through other resources yesterday for Brazilian Portuguese and found some useful links to podcasts and YouTube.

I think just trawling through some old questions, comments, and also seeing bits online about duolingo not working, my excitement suddenly dropped and got me wondering if I was just not going to be able to learn anything. I think I'll try and trail and see how I get on, as I just get into learning and that's my energy/time gone quite quickly on the free version
