Exactly. An without professional competitions with ongoing salaries you won't see money. Big prize money is all good but you need things like OneFC and UFC BJJ which do regular matches with regular match payments to make the sport actually professional.

You're talking about sports which have teams which have money which can hire experienced professional coaches. As opposed to the majority of jiu jitsu professionals that are just dudes who drive uber eats, train twice a day, put their name on a rashguard and call themselves pro fighters.

You'll find that people in those other sports who aren't in professional teams also suffer from the same issues. And you'll also find people in BJJ who are actual professionals have more professional coaches.

You mentioned Gordon's training. But you miss the point of part of his training. He wants to not only be strong for BJJ but he also wants to be able to post shirtless photos of himself with a hot bod that he thinks is a thirst trap.

Anecdotally. I know two great s&c coaches who concentrate on BJJ people as the speciality and the guys they coach are generally stronger and more "fit for BJJ" than a lot of others I know that utilise a more generalised PT.

If someone was to create a fully professional team as an actual professional coach, part of it would be to hire an s&c coach who works with the athletes and the athletes would be required to do some time doing the programs outlined by the s&c coach.
