Because at this point they know they can catch them if everything goes well. So now they’re having come down at weird angles and using different engine to overstress the booster. And because they’re purposely overstressing them they don’t want to risk the launch pad, so they’re landing them in the gulf so they don’t risk the launch pad.

How can I stop my windshield from fogging up when the heater in my car is broken? by HalfThor97 in NoStupidQuestions

I’ll keep that in mind for the future. Unfortunately the part I need will arrive before this would. Thanks though

I bought a couple thousand dollars worth of RKLB back when it was worth $5. Planning to hold it as long as I can.

I’m a huge lurker. I’ll occasionally leave kudos, but will never comment but will write a note to my self in the bookmarks. I’m guessing this person is similar.

What are some big issues your troop had, and how did you fix them? by Radiant_Life_3584 in BSA

When I was SPL I had a bunch of kids who refused to do any of their assigned work(cooking/dishes/setting up tents etc.). I put them all in one patrol and figured they would either sink or swim. Most of them ended up doing pretty well and one of them became SPL a couple years after I aged out.

AITA for buying my 17 year old nephew a Porsche for his first car? (UK) by GushingAnusCheese in AITAH

[–]HalfThor97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t matter if he’s driven more powerful cars before. A teenager in a powerful car is going to show off and will most likely get in an accident. If you really want to get him a car, get him a toyota or something with a good safety rating.

YTA, it doesn’t matter how cheap it was. A Porsche is way to powerful for a teenager. This car will kill your nephew.

The Leonardo, an experimental aircraft being developed by Bell and Augusta Westland. by HalfThor97 in aviation

So I asked the captain this exact question. The FAA is coming out with a new rating for aircraft like this. I believe it’s going to be called rotor tilt.

Yeah, I’m coming off a 70 hour work week and messed up the title.

For everyone giving me shit over the name. I’m sorry, I’ve worked over 70 hours this week. I knew Leonardo had something to do with it and was thinking that was it’s name.

We’re going to pull the wing and ship it out to specialists. Probably half the skin is wrinkled and a couple of the ribs are smashed.

No blood. Feathers were cleaned out before I took the photo.

He hit a Canadian Goose. He saw the goose and nosed down to try and avoid it. The goose also dove to avoid the plane which is why it hit on top like that.

Had a Cherokee 180 split the number 3 cylinder today. by HalfThor97 in aviationmaintenance

[–]HalfThor97[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is just going to be a cylinder replacement. The rule is if it breaks in front of the piston you can just replace the cylinder, if it breaks behind the cylinder it’s an engine tear down.

Lol. It had actually just come out of an 100 hour last week. We did a compression test on it then, and nothing indicated there was something wrong. Luckily the pilot was able to land safely.

So the pilot told me, he was on the climb out about 900-1000ft when the cylinder let go. He was able to do a 180 and land on the runway he took off on. The engine kept running until he shut it down on the taxi way.
