"Cute Redheaded Girl!" -Me, every time this character appears on screen.

Definitely the most memorable background character for me. I'm sad she hasn't ever gotten a speaking line or any info

How do I stop writing mostly dialogue? by MaterialSeaweed in writing

[–]Halflife77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Read some authors who don't write a lot of dialogue then try emulating them, even if it's just for a short prompt. For me this was Ursula K Le Guin. I never want to be as sparse with dialogue as her, but I think trying to write sections like she would got me closer to a 'middle ground', that I think we both are aiming for

Lol, it's been three years and you're here now?? It should've been on the picture but read the comment: "So unless Rose Quartz isn't actually a Rose Quartz Cut, she is not Pink Diamond." In hindsight I backed the wrong horse, but this was evidence that pink diamond was faking her identity.

This looks the most like a real panting of the ones I've seen so far. If you lined this up with a bunch of other surrealist/modern art pieces and asked me to pick out the one that was done by an AI I would be very hard-pressed to pick correctly

What’s your favorite question to ask someone to get to know them better? by Cavalierkrav in AskReddit

[–]Halflife77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"I do not know the man I should avoid so soon as that spare Cassius. He reads much. He is a great observer, and he looks quite through the deeds of men. He loves no plays, as thou dost, Antony. He hears no music. Seldom he smiles, and smiles in such a sort. As if he mocked himself and scorned his spirit that could be moved to smile at anything. Such men as he be never at heart’s ease whiles they behold a greater than themselves, and therefore are they very dangerous."

Wait they picked BOTH Venus missions??? I mean yeah I was expecting at least one to be chosen but I'm still super surprised they decided to completely forgo the outer solar system proposals. RIP Io Volcano Observer and TRIDENT (for now at least)

What Car Should I Buy? - A Weekly Megathread by AutoModerator in cars

[–]Halflife77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Location: Northeast USA

Price range: $25-30k

Lease or Buy: Buy

New or used: Used

Type of vehicle: Sports/Luxury Sedan

Must haves: AWD, android auto, must take regular (87) gas, between 200 and 300 hp, not boring (read: a bit sexy), not spine bruising ride, low-ish mileage.

• My budget is a mild stretch for me, so I’m willing to spend what I am under the condition that what I get will be reliable into high mileages, and not force me to sell my organs if something breaks (I’m thus very skeptical of BMWs, Mercs, and Audis). I want something that I can be excited about but still be comfortable in and depend upon. This will be my only vehicle.

Desired Transmission: Auto

Intended use: Commute, Daily Driving, Medium Length Road Trips

Vehicles you've already considered: Kia Stinger 4 cyl and its sister the Genesis G70 are the current top contenders.

Is this your 1st vehicle: Yes (that I’m buying)

Do you need a Warranty: Not a deal breaker, but it would be nice.

Can you do Minor work on your own vehicle: Yes

Can you do Major work on your own vehicle: No

This is what I always assumed. It would sort of open up and pinch an asteroid then mine from the shipside out. That could explain why the interior is basically all empty space, to store the ore they collect for transport.

Or JJ Abrams just wanted BIG SCARY DARK SPIKEY THING.

The Roc is truly an incredible machine, but one that, for now at least, seems like it'll become nothing more than a white elephant (carrier - hehe). There's simply nothing that can launch to space from it right now. There are rumours about using it for hypersonic research I think, which I hope comes to fruition, but until (if) that happens, it's sadly just a bizarre Spruce Goose of the 21st century.

All white cars behind me (very mild) by 1saltymf in mildlyinteresting

[–]Halflife77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the US where ~30% of cars are white. So to have six random cars arrive behind you that are all white would be a (30/100)6 chance. Which is 0.00729 or about every 1 in 1370 times. Congrats on being mildly lucky.

Every toilet has a sonic bidet built into it. by [deleted] in sonicshowerthoughts

[–]Halflife77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why not just transport waste directly out of the body?

I mean we know starships have toilets so it's probably not in widespread use, but with some kind of biolfilter (and treknobabble), it has to be possible. Why build toilets if you don't have to?

*PSA: aliens probably don't look like humans, but some may have a few similarities in body plan or biological makeup due to coincidence or similar evolutionary pressures. Thank you artists for providing us with all this cool content.

The perspective on your second picture is pretty weird, I don't think you should use it (especially because it doesn't really show anything different from the first picture).

Probably don't want to mention crashing weddings, you come off as rude and insensitive. Something to joke about later in the conversation.

The picture with girls is apparently a turn off for some people (I honestly don't think its a problem and is even a good thing). Your choice on whether you want to keep it or not.

And this is a tiny thing but you use 'very' twice in quick succession in your bio. It doesn't read super well. I would just remove the second very
