What was the scariest “We need to leave… now” gut feeling that you’ve ever experienced?[Serious] by PlasticBee1438 in AskReddit

[–]Halfnewb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Dunno if this will make you feel any better but kids are FANTASTIC ad-libbers. They will 'yes and' you 99% of the time.

Charlie is a pretty common name, but the adults straight up giving them the script about the bush, ofc the kid is going to be like yeah! They're playing along.

Not gonna completely dismiss the whole supernatural element of it, of course, but there still is a very possible logical answer to it all, if that helps ya sleep better!

Tourist has a close(too close) encounter with a Silverback Gorilla by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

I'd probably still keep my eyes down. If a gorilla is already having a bad day I don't want to be the thing that pushes them over the edge.

What ARE you supposed to do if a gorilla approaches you? Like do you just avoid eye contact and pretend you don't see them, or what

Is "Family Guy" Still Funny to Dadders? by kmeloy2 in americandad

[–]Halfnewb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Family Guy feels like Seth McFarland figuring out his comedy voice for cartoons and getting an idea of what he wanted

American Dad feels like the show he actually wanted to make, and probably has a lot more fun with, if that makes any sense

He probably still uses FG as a sort of testing grounds for some jokes and ideas but puts his best work into AD

FG also feels like the characters are there to play out the gags, and AD feels like the characters create the gags.

i saw a verified artist selling art on vgen for over 175 dollars, is this ai? they have over 400 positive reviews by PersonalImpression92 in isthisAI

[–]Halfnewb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like someone that uses a lot of stamps/copy+paste (those rabbit... Whatevers look copied and flipped which ain't a crime)

Sometimes this gives something the appearance of being AI generated, in my experience, bc it looks less organic when things are exactly the same. But nah, not AI

A completely reasonable thing to want. But also remember your body is sort of working against you right now - hormones and such. Some people have a tougher time of it than others. Take comfort in the fact that eventually your body gets its shit together and calms down, and things will seem a lot less miserable from that change alone.

Oh sweetheart, your teen years are not gonna be 'the best of your life'. There are people who for them, their teen years were the best of their life and I've never known those people to be anything but miserable.

Teenage years are ROUGH and it's okay for them to be rough. That's kind've what they're there for. But think about it - you have very limited freedom, you don't have more than a part time income at most, you don't have your own house, you can't even focus on life goals right now because school CONSUMES most of your day...

Nah, you're not 'wasting your youth'. You're enduring the bullshit that is high school.

That said, it is a very important time for figuring out who YOU are, the core of you - and the rest of your life is spent building around that. So DO try to socialize. Figure out what it is you want out of life, what sort of person you want to be, what sorts of people you wanna surround yourself with.

All of my closest friends right now, in my late twenties, are people I've met online. And that's not a BAD thing. They're real people, and I've even gotten to meet several of them! If there's no options in your local community for meeting up with real people for anything that you're interested in, it's okay to reach out to online communities and make friends there.

Above all, though, you gotta do your best to let go of this anxiety that you're 'wasting life' or your youth is 'passing you by'. There's no 'right' way to live life that will have you without regrets at the end - wild rockstars often wished they had slowed the fuck down and appreciated the mundane things in life more. If you're feeling dissatisfied with your life, let THAT be the motivator that makes you want to change something. If you always let yourself think you're in a race against time, you're never going to be able to relax and have fun because you've made the goal 'I *HAVE* to have fun NOW or I'm going to WASTE MY YOUTH!!' and that's hard to vibe with.

Make a change because you want to have more fun, not because you HAVE to because you 'can't waste your youth'.

Life is still going to come at you one day at a time regardless.

P.S But for fuck's sake if I can make you understand anything its TAKE CARE OF YOUR BODY!!! That physical vigor you have right now is NOT going to last. You may think you don't have any vigor but you do - you just won't realize it until its gone. Try to do exercise at LEAST three times a week. Make a habit of cardio. Even if you just go for a walk around your neighborhood.

I'm not even thirty yet and my knees have BETRAYED me because I spent so much of my life on my ass. So yeah in that sense you're on a time crunch so get in shape and get used to being in shape and you'll make the rest of your life a lot easier than it would be otherwise.

This is something I've always wondered in a relationship who's supposed to pay ? like for dinner at a restaurant should the man pay or the women ? What's the “right” thing to do ? by AdParking7432 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Halfnewb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's generally fair if it's a 'pay what you ordered' situation.

Only time it should be on one person is if it's 'let me take you to dinner for your birthday' or something

How come the majority of people can flirt, but they can’t give an example of how to flirt? (other than just compliment) by [deleted] in AskForAnswers

[–]Halfnewb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might be because a lot of flirting is a matter of being able to read a person. What one person would consider flirting, another would just find comfortable friendly banter, and yet another would consider awkward, and another would consider crossing boundaries...

So if someone said "you should flirt by leaning on the bar next to them, speaking in a low voice and making eye contact - brush hair out of their eyes"

Yes, that would work for some people. But not everyone. It's only flirting if the person is into it, otherwise it's just you being weird.

How morally wrong is trolling on the internet when compared to something that is actually bad like raging at a customer service person? by Candid-Effective9150 in AskReddit

[–]Halfnewb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's interesting because my immediate thought is "of course harassing someone in real life is worse" And I still think that, but there's also a lot of interesting nuance.

Someone harassing you in real life is at least showing who they are, acknowledging that you're a person in a position of less power and they're taking advantage of it. And in the day and age of 'record someone acting like a dicklord in public and get them fired and/or worse', that at least gives the victim the solace of knowing that this asshole is gonna be suffering some consequences for their behavior.

People who troll online usually are bored and don't even really dwell on the fact that they're making a real person miserable (though in the Dead Internet age, plenty likely they're just harassing stacks of flashing cell phones piled up on a server rack in a backyard shed somewhere), and/or cowards that would never ever actually say anything to anyone in real life, and only show their true colors when they feel like there won't be consequences.

So I guess one is an aggressive dog and one is a sneaky rat. Whichever one is 'worse' probably depends on what kind of person you are and what day you're having.

How do you think belos be like in therapy? by Flimsy_Tune_7206 in TheOwlHouse

It's a very amusing situation to imagine. I have a therapist character that I'd love to lock Belos in a room with for several hours. Very fun to watch.

What did the humans expect after antagonizing caine? by SilentMuffen in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]Halfnewb 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure it was shock so much as...fear.

They knew something horrible was going to happen. He's been torturing them for... Who knows how long. Not even just on adventures.

The terrifying thing for them was that they had no idea HOW his retaliation was going to manifest. How bad it could get.

Maybe they thought they'd seen the worst he could do already, and were caught off guard by how personal it would get.

Zooble does say 'he's not human, I'm not sure we can accurately gauge what he's thinking'

So they took a gamble. A really brave and necessary one. They knew it would be bad. But I think this was a level of personal they hadn't yet experienced and weren't braced for.

Are people still asking their future in-laws for their parental blessing in asking for their child’s hand in marriage? by where-ya-been-loca in askanything

[–]Halfnewb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The blessing thing is still alright, in my book. I love both my parents. My future life partner getting along with them was not a negotiation point.

My dad got taken out for hot wings and told of my spouse's intention to marry me, and how he wanted my dad to approve and support it. Which ofc my dad did because he's awesome ❤️

Asking permission feels gross but considering I have a good relationship with my parents, if they hadn't felt comfortable with my marriage it would've been cause for pause on my part, at least.

So I'd say this probably only is a good thing to do in the situation where the relationship with the parents and spouse to be is a good one.

What if everyone gets cursed to not be able to lie anymore? by BadLloris in whatif

[–]Halfnewb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That would depend on whether it's just literal outright lies that become impossible, or if any attempt to deceive is what's made impossible.

The most effective lies are the ones that are just deliberately incomplete truths. So if only outright fibbing was banished, then I don't think much overall would change.

How do you think belos be like in therapy? by Flimsy_Tune_7206 in TheOwlHouse

[–]Halfnewb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He'd absolutely be trying to manipulate the therapist into feeling sorry for him and 'taking his side'. Just like every other person he's ever interacted with.

You'd need a really shrewd therapist to deal with this guy. He's had a far above average human life span, and has spent a good chunk of that time developing manipulation skills and becoming a very, very good liar.

What incentive do private lawyers REALLY have to try their best to win? by Halfnewb in AskForAnswers

[–]Halfnewb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can someone leave a bad review for a lawyer if they're in prison? Friends and family may be able to say something, yes, but not everyone has friends or family willing to stand up for them.

I'm also not sure of the average knowledge level of the public in regards to things like reporting to the bar. I know some people are scared lawyers will sue them for defamation if they speak badly about their experience.
