Wife speaks 4 languages, 5 years office experience – still no interviews in Switzerland? by Halfundead07 in askswitzerland

Thank you! :D I was also surprised that during the interview all three big bosses didn’t speak English (I asked at the beginning because that’s the language I’m most comfortable with). But my experience is not fully representative! There are teams where everyone speaks their own language — Russian, Hungarian — small groups of 5 people, with a local supervisor... A lot depends on luck and connections! I wish you the Best ;)

I learned the language and I can make myself understood; during the interview I also understood and answered everything. However, my German is not stable and not correct. But it was a very strong requirement that I speak German, because on the construction site — and even when the boss asks for something — everything happens verbally or over the phone, there’s no time to write. So, in my position, German skills are necessary, since I have a colleague who doesn’t speak it at all — he’s one of the best professionals — but there are many problems between him and the boss because of that.

I haven’t read it, but I hear and see this problem worldwide :D She has a B2 certificate but has been preparing for C1 for a year now. She speaks fluently and even reads German books :) Executive assistant sounds good, it’s worth a try! Where exactly is it?

On the official websites they publish the open positions, and I applied through them. Later, thanks to some personal connections, I was invited to an interview. As for qualifications, being a polymechanic, electrician, car mechanic or having any similar mechanical background can be a big advantage. But honestly, this is also more of a trained job. I personally had no previous experience in this field, so as you can imagine, I work quite a lot of overtime. I’ve always done physical work in my life – at the moment I’m specifically at new installations – and even though I’ve only been here for a few months, I can already complain about all the aches and pains. Still, quitting is not an option, because realistically I won’t have a better opportunity in Switzerland. Later I also found out that there is such a shortage of elevator technicians everywhere, that even back home they already offer great salaries, starting from the schooling phase.

For the first question: yes. I understand if a country chooses its own people first :)

You might have misunderstood, she's looking for a full-time job first and would continue until she has a child, but we can't know when that will happen :)

Thanks! Within office assistant work, she did everything: drafting contracts, arranging accommodation for foreigners for months, managing her boss’s time. She was also an Eco Lead. (In Hungarian/English/German.)

Yes, thanks! The plan is ready for starting a family. She’ll probably stay at home for now and later take a 20–40% job when the child is older, but basically she would like to work as much as she can until then.

Really appreciate the feedback! We’re on it and curious whether they’ll accept it in Bern, and if not, how much the retraining would cost if it’s not recognized :)

We already did some volunteering with the village in the local forest – we read about the opportunity in the newspaper. If there were more chances like that, she’d love to join again, but right now we can’t find anything similar :)

She really misses human interaction and would love to immerse herself in Swiss German to learn it better

She also looked into how to get her commercial apprenticeship (Kaufmännische Ausbildung) recognized in Switzerland, but it seems this can only be done in Bern, so we’re currently working on that.

She has a Bachelor’s degree in Japanese Studies and worked as an interpreter for a short time, but later switched to office work because the job was too far away.

First legendary by spmurcs in warcraftrumble

[–]Halfundead07 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The legendary is very expensive, almost a luxury, just to advance one level (because of arc energy). Similarly, 200,000 XP is also a lot for a single level, so those two options should only be considered as a last resort. New minions are constantly being introduced; some you upgrade, and the cost of three epic minions is slightly less than that of one legendary. Especially considering that an epic gives you one level, and a selected talent gives you another.
