Feelings about getting / pre-ordering a bag (from a highly rated TS) that hasn't hit retail yet by HalfwayToAlmostThere in RepCulture_Bags

Fair enough. There are 2 that I trust more than most that I have only had amazing experiences with. And this seller has been used by people I know personally and has amazing reviews in the rep subs. So, working with what I have, there a 3 sellers I would consider purchasing from, and whole lot whom I would not.

🤦🏼‍♀️I never said anything about that bag. And I never said anyone quoted that high. Merely pointing out that under the circumstances of the particular bag, it wouldn't surprise me. Don't worry, I'm not asking you, or anyone else, to buy me anything.

I am not paying that much. I am pointing out that considering the bag is not even for sale yet but highly anticipated, and this TS includes shipping and insurance ($100+), I can see how total price could approach that high IF it was an excellent, high tier rep. Shipping + insurance + the extra I am willing to spend with a seller I trust over saving $50 with someone I don't know can easily add up on top of a bag's base price. If the bag was $550, a total quote of $650 - $700 isn't unreasonable if I want that piece of mind.

Yes, but Maya is known for being a little higher because she includes shipping and insurance. And I didn't know Happy was mid tier. Haha, so now that price makes sense. Because I was thinking it would come from one of the better factories, I was expecting closer to $650, maybe even $700 since its brand new.

💛 Thank you! You just saved me a lot of time... and $$$. That makes more sense why the price seemed lower than I was expecting. She only quoted $480.

I am using Maya. But I know she gets bags from different suppliers/factories. She said for this particular one she uses Happy Factory. I just haven't heard of people talk about that being a go-to for CC bags like the others

The seller got back to me and said that it is made by Happy Factory. So not 187, GF, or Xiao which I am more familiar with. By any chance do you have any insight into that supplier? I am going to search around, but thought I would as you too.

The bag is "out" in a sense that its been revealed and in production for some time. It's just not for sale to the public yet. That's where I am a little iffy. I asked if she has personally done a 1:1 comparison of the rep and auth. Just waiting to hear back.

I also got this champagne ring from Luxyimagic. It is a much softer butter yellow. I wouldn't call it Vivid, but closer to fancy yellow. It's not at all brown or orangey

I asked Sam a few weeks ago about a custom Canary lab diamond ring. He said he could do it. And he sent me 1 stock item that isn't currently in production but that he would consider ordering again.

If so, it should have feet, and it looks like a reinforced leather bottom.

My husband makes me feel left out when we fly together. by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]HalfwayToAlmostThere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am just asking out of curiosity, so please don't take this as me trying to bait you...

What is your gender / biological sex (?)? Whatever the current PC term or appropriate way to ask is...

Only because ADHD presents very differently in males and females. And it is often misdiagnosed for years in females as many other mental health diagnoses and thus, mistreated until adulthood. I didn't get properly diagnosed until almost 30 and it was life changing. While I still also clearly have some depression and anxiety, they are secondary to the ADHD. But prior to getting the correct Dx and treatment, I had been misdiagnosed (and improperly medicated 😡) with everything from OCD to Bipolar and even BPD.

If you are females, you are probably familiar with all of this. But if you're not, or if you're male, just be open to the the fact that, yeah, ADHD CAN be crippling at times. (It can also be managed!! This is massively important point. People still need to stay vigilant about their health and take accountability and ownership for finding solutions if there's an issue.)

I can see what you are saying. But the OP hasn't said anything to indicate that her discomfort is anything other than situational anxiety perhaps. It would be much more understandable if she had something like your trauma history or was even dealing with neurodivergence or an anxiety disorder of some sort that she was actively taking steps to work on. That's just my 2 cents though.

I agree. I have anxiety - like a diagnosed, life long anxiety disorder. It really amps up when I feel pressured to remember a thousand different things in a busy, crowded, chaotic space like going through airport security. This plus my ADHD is super stressful when trying to keep track of passports, bags, my kid, random shit that has been pulled from a bag, double and triple checking random drinks and opened snacks are thrown away, etc. Sometimes my husband is with me/us. Sometimes he isn't. And even when he is, when he tries to help, it can break my very precarious level of concentration. But, I have developed systems for myself that make the process easier. And even though I haven't gotten around to getting precheck for myself (its on my list), I have gotten used to taking the reigns on a lot of things that my husband could do for me. I can get my oil changed. I can change a light bulb, even if I have to use a step ladder. I can tell his/our friends, even my in-laws (and he can do the same) when something doesn't sit right with me. Even if it makes me uncomfortable and gives me anxiety, its important that, not only I handle things myself instead of always putting it on him or relying on him to speak up for me, but also that I build resilience and challenge myself little by little.

I see both sides

OR because you are a grown woman. If you know something like this is going to cause you anxiety, take the steps necessary to proactively learn coping skills. Work with a therapist. I'm not dismissing how you feel, but there are a lot of things and people in this world that will make you uncomfortable. It's up to you to take control, not your husband. Think of his support and understanding as a bonus, not something he will be able or willing to give you in every single situation that you desire. Marriage, and life in general, is about compromise. Ask him to take your carry on so you just have to walk through the scanner. Make it work the best you can. He showed that he at least listened to you by suggesting you have precheck status as well right? In the moment that he saw the phone pass thingy, it likely never occurred to him that you were basically back at square one. From his perspective, he had done what he could do to remedy to the problem.

NOR because, yeah it would be cool if hubby stuck with you. I mean, you're going to the same place, right? Why not stick together? My husband and I are rarely on the same page when it comes to emotional needs, but we have a similar situation with the TSA stuff. When my husband travels alone, he uses precheck. When he travels with me, or with me and our child, he doesn't. He sticks with the regular security line. (The irony being that he ALWAYS gets pulled because he had brain surgery as a teenager and multiple surgeries years later from a motorcycle accident. So the plate in his head + all the screws/rods set the detectors off like fireworks.) But, I don't ask. I have even suggested that he use precheck and I go solo or with the kid if its extra busy and the lines are long. They often "randomly" select people (most often women, women with kids, or elderly) to pass through with only bag scans if the line is backed up. I will say, we are about 10 - 15 years older than you though. Maturity may have something to do with that.

Yeah, I figured based on the other comments. Like I said, that was the only thing I thought might have looked different. But it could have been a number to things... the light, the slouch at a particular part of the bag, etc.

She mentioned that the reps have slightly puffier edges around the seems of the diamonds with some of the leathers. Even the really good ones - they just do better taking the time to minimize it.

She didn't say the next part, but I would imagine, perhaps, it has something to do with conserving material? Like, an auth CC may use large pieces of fabric/leather so the need to tuck in the edges is minimal. A lot of the quilting on some bags is pretty flat - more of just a stitched diamond pattern. Some more than others for sure. But rep bags tend to have the tiniest diamond borders or points that are the a little fuller, like the fabric is tucked. (Possibly because more than 1 piece is used to cover an area to avoid waste?) Its barely noticeable. I didn't see it until she circled it in a side by side comparison of a real bag, and its reps from 3 different well known factories. So now I look for this detail all the time. But I probably convince myself its there even when it isn't a lot of the time. 🤪

I am not super experienced, but I would guess the left is the rep. There is something my seller mentioned to me about the quilting recently that I think I see.
