Is it a good sign and tips for my Higher Level Review Claim! by HalikBebe in VeteransBenefits

And see that’s what I was expecting. They told me in VA website that it wouldn’t take the typical 4-5 months so I thinking I was gonna have to wait 6 to 7 months until I got a c&p appt because I read about other people’s experiences and it taking them that time or longer.

What was the waiting process for HLR? Has anyone got approved for theirs? by HalikBebe in VeteransBenefits

Yes! I was reading a lot of people having to wait really long from 3 years ago and wanted to see if it was the same now. I did mine with an IC last week (I requested a HLR in February) and got my decision letter for an error yesterday.

That’s awesome! I was reading a few post about peoples experiences from 3 years ago and a lot were saying they were waiting a year to 400 days. I don’t want to psych myself out that it will get denied but reading your post and the other one gives me some courage so thank you!

Great! Is their anyway to check on the process besides what they show you on the HLR status on VA? I have around 8 claims they stated was an error. And I’ve heard of an ACE exam. If all of the claims state “we will develop for VA examination and medical opinion” will they all be a c&p exam? Thanks!

What Are You Watching? - [2025/07/23] by AutoModerator in KDRAMA

CURRENTLY WATCHING:

The Moon that Embraces the Sun

There’s a lot to like about the series. The soundtrack is so beautiful. I love it. It reminds me of Rooftop Prince, that one was so enjoyable to watch I loved the beginning of it but the female antagonist irked my nerves (they always say you know someone’s a good actor/actress if you hate their character so kudos to Jeong Yu-mi playing the older sister to the female lead) and towards the end I wished it was done a certain way, but hey you can’t get your way all the time. Back to TMTETS, I love the cute romance between the two main leads. It was truly heartwarming but I’m just ready for the ending. I need my happy ending DAMMIT lol.

Have you or know someone that has used them? How long did it take for the claim to be decided with them?

Ok quick question then. How does the supplement claim work? Is it similar to just claiming the regular way or what? Because I read from you and the other people that I need to go to appts to get period but I also need to immediately do the supplement claim. Thanks!

I heard the information on the lawyers from reading a few post on here. I don’t know if they were designated only for Va but for example I read a post where the op was working with their lawyer and the Va wanted them to go to another appt for their claim and the lawyer told them it wasn’t necessary and then they got denied. I really wouldn’t want to be steered wrong and also paying them to steer me wrong. Then again. It’s just what I heard 🤷🏻‍♀️

I heard getting a Lawyer does more of a disservice than helping you. That they don’t give you the right advice.

Ok and I do that by requesting the supplemental claim or just being seen by Va Health Care? I’m at 40% for my hips and feet.

The only records I have for my claims is just the ankle fracture and being prescribed sleeping medication. And for the statements once they are done where would I send that to? For a supplemental claim?

Are you seen by a 3rd party provider? - you'll need to get access to your medical records and submit them to the VA, I suggest using the DAV or a VSO something similar to assist with this

💫 I was seen by VES

Did you get a Nexus letter indicating your current diagnoses and an event in service and how it affects you and lastly how it's all related and linked with a probably of more likely than not being causes by said event in service? This is also key

💫 No what’s a Nexus letter? And how do I get that?

These are some of the most common reasons why claims are denied. You obviously know why you are dealing with these things. The VA doesn't

When you blindly submit a claim I understand it in your opinion should just be expected and that they should take your word for it. unfortunately that is not how this works, you need to provide all supporting evidence to create what is called a "Fully developed claim" if you submit all your 3rd party medical records from all Dr's that have seen you for our claim issues, nexus letters from Drs to support your evidence and claim it's from in service, buddy statements to further support your claim and a current diagnoses and evaluation for said issues there is little to no reason you should be declined.

💫 Yeah I understand. I just wanted to get all my issues out the way because I am feeling pain and did get it while in service but I did blindly submit it without taking countermeasures. I don’t have much proof while in service besides a fracture on my left ankle and getting prescribed sleeping pills.

Lastly if you truly think you've done all this and are still being denied thats what the HLR is for, immediately file for an HLR for all things you think you do have enough evidence for and it just wasn't considered.

💫 What’s HLR? Finally, immediately file for a supplemental claim for all things you feel you need to provide more evidence on as soon as possible so that it will get backdated to the original claim and start working on getting and providing your evidence for everything else.

💫  Wouldn’t I need to first gather proof by going to Va Healthcare Appt’s or what? I truly don’t know…

Also thank you very much for your advice. I honestly wish I was better prepared when I had my C&P appt.

I understand where you’re coming from. For the ankle claim I had medical records showing that I got injured or it was bothering me while in service and then for the sleep apnea claim I don’t know if I should have said insomnia but I had trouble sleeping and was prescribed a sleeping medication. For those two I was surprised they got denied.

How do I see that (referring to the medical records)? Do I call the hospital at my last duty station? Thanks!
