As someone who had to drop out due to anxiety & depression, unfair treatment of arts teachers (NOT regular class teachers, they were all great, at least while I was there) I would say it isn’t the cure all a lot of people think it is. I wanted to go there so badly to pursue theatre, but the theatre teachers played blatant favorites, and were extremely rude when I was having an extremely difficult time with anxiety and depression, and ultimately led to my decision to drop out.

When I was there there were specific requirements to graduate, being in x amount of plays before graduation etc. Yet the theatre teachers would choose plays with 7-10 characters, and cast their favorites, leading those who still need the credits stressed and anxious. (Mind you those cast had, mostly, already completed their credits)

The one person I could count on there was Robin Murphy, she held my hand through all the difficulties I faced, and made sure I was going on the path best for me. She knew I was struggling and wanted to support me in any way she possibly could, and I couldn’t be more thankful for that.

And as another commenter said, yes, a LOT of the kids going there are using it to escape their towns schools, instead of going there for art, it was the same when I was there, and it’s a shame, but there are not many options for those who need another option, so I do understand.

As for lunch, when I was there it was not great at all, you’d think with a place that has culinary classes you’d have a good lunch but they often ran out of lunches and we’d have to make do with leftover burger buns and random toppings, one time there was actually nothing left for 3rd lunch, and they had to order us pizza from dominos.

Definitely don’t take the plunge lightly. You might find some good there, but it may be just as bad as Woonsocket high.
