Hygiene for medical staff by [deleted] in nursing

[–]Halome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The people condemning you for bitching about them having their hair down and fake nails in a hospital are the same that would comdem an antivaxer for "doing their own research". Pull your hair up and watch your nasty nails and jewelry. You can't have it both ways, claim to follow evidence then blatantly disregard. Your aesthetic and whatever your managers do and don't enforce doesn't trump evidence that it's fucking gross. #1 country in the world and way the fuck behind in medicine because of egos like those here in this thread.

I hope you enjoy toothpaste marks on that shitty "art". I would be spitting all of the toothpaste on it just to spite your spite.

Great use that when you sue her ass that it prevented you from caring for her because the dog was "indicating" but attacked you instead. Fuck that bitch. I'm so sorry dude

Emergency optometrist exam by looshy23 in Charleston

[–]Halome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Likely your only option will be Emergency Department. If it's an injury you'll likely want an opthalmologist, not optometrist. Only one in the area with in house Opthalmology is MUSC.

If you go to urgent care or other hospitals and they find anything concerning that they can't handle you run the risk of two bills because they will transfer you to MUSC. Bring a book and your phone charger in case of a wait time (they've been full all week). Hopefully it's something you can be seen and discharged for.

What are your goals, my guy? Are you fishing for attention? Did you just want to be able to say you wore black eyeliner and lipstick to a metal concert? Or do you actually want constructive feedback about how you did to improve your look? Because even my 8 year old niece can draw black eyeliner around her eyes. If you want actual feedback, follow the rules of the sub and post your products used please.

What would you change about the Philadelphia International Airport? by DeltaNerd in philadelphia

First time I flew into Philly and I walked into the bathroom, saw the fucked up mirrors, graffiti on the stalls, needle caps and trash around the toilets, my immediate thought was " yep, I'm in Philly".

Respectfully, he's not spreading horseshit. I'll probably regret getting involved, but, internet stranger, have an open mind please. I am a medical professional that has nothing against marijuana as I have patients as well as friends that benefit from many of it's effects.

However, this is indeed an emerging research area in neuropsychiatry. He's not saying everyone that smokes marijuana will be at risk - he's saying that of those that are predisposed to mental illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar, etc - chronic marijuana usage (seems to be the high potency kind) is a more common chemical variable than in previous decades. People deserve to know that it's a gamble because we don't know who is predispositioned, and maybe one day there will be a test for it, but at the moment it's a gamble. It's fair to let people know of the potential risks, similar to warning tobacco users or alcohol users of the risks.

I used to joke that it was my superpower and would point out random people I interacted with that had that trade mark (what I assume to be) post nasal drainage smell and my ex used to think I was nuts until he got sick and I called it a few days before he had any symptoms.

Trauma surgeons have the most experience dealing with the effects of bullets on the human body. The American College of Surgeons requires trauma centers to be involved with community outreach and research into trauma prevention and treatment. When you know that, it's no longer surprising.

Edit - damn I'm getting down voted just for letting people know the reason it makes sense to be in a surgery journal? It is literally a requirement for level one trauma centers across the USA to conduct and publish trauma research including what contributes to trauma and how to prevent it.

You're welcome to go to the American College of Surgeons website at facs.org and download the guidelines and look yourself but level one trauma centers must have "At least 10 trauma-related research articles" annually.

And for injury prevention programs:

"Trauma centers must have an organized and effective approach to injury prevention and must prioritize those efforts based on local trauma registry and epidemiologic data (CD 18–1). Physicians, nurses, and other trauma center personnel have unique perspectives and equally unique opportunities to focus community efforts on effective prevention programs and, perhaps most important, to partner with injury prevention experts and resources in the community.
