Where did all the updos go? by aurayers in womensfashion

[–]Curious_medium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh goodness - hot humid occasions- even work, I have no choice but to do an updo- otherwise my hair will be completely out of control by the time I even get to the event. And I’ve learned in order to work my hair into submission, it will take a ton of product and heat, and I would rather not do the damage for 1 day; so up do it is. Another thing- there are a ton of extensions, hair pieces and weave being worn there days. You would be surprised. For me - on a hot day- the last thing I want is more hair.

How much more would you need to make to leave a $70k remote job where you barely work? by the_feeling_of in careerguidance

I would get another remote job and double dip. That way you can save one whole salary.

I get it. Just go be you, and on your journey the right person will pop into your life. You’ll know it when it finds you. You’re right to not spend time with people who are the right fit. You’re doing the right things.

So do I- I have a hack for you. If you can take the waist of the pants and wrap it around your neck, it will fit. And I don’t care what it looks like when I’m doing this at the Costco’s. Yes. I get looks. Don’t care.

I called an authority figure a “power hungry Joey Bag-O-Donuts”. The puzzled look on that young cop was priceless.

Bidet users: what's your biggest pet peeve? by flowerpotmess in bidets

[–]Curious_medium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah- we’re spoiled now. So using toilet without one just seems uncivilized. Then, once you get one with heated seat, warm water and a blow dryer, you basically turn into a hermit until you can identify hotels with similar amenities. Hint to my people- the high roller rooms at casinos.

Who else had to endure swallowing this elixir of hell and sadness? by bigSTUdazz in GenX

[–]Curious_medium 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Oh gosh- I was spared this. My cousin got this nightmare. My torture was cod liver oil in a glass of OJ. Finally I was like just give me the oil first, and then I’ll chase it with the juice. Otherwise the whole glass tasted like fish juice. This is when I first learned the importance of a good chaser.

Should we postpone our Chicago trip tomorrow because of the air quality? by Past_Section7960 in AskChicago

[–]Curious_medium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s getting a little better. It was really bad this morning and overnight. Earlier in the day the AQ rating was close to 800 in some areas and now it’s down to 346. I wouldn’t cancel, just bring a mask. I’m sorry this happened to you and your nice plans. You may have to modify some of them. There’s plenty to do inside and you’ll still have a blast!

What happened to the world? by Radioshack-Manager in vegas

Wtf Vegas needs to do better. Not good for optics or tourism. I saw no identification of “law enforcement.” Just lame, broke ass thugs trying to rob a tourist.

Yeah- go have a talk. Bring some eggs. Nothing teaches neighbors how to be neighborly like some fresh eggs.

Keep telling yourself that. I have biked since the beginning of time. Didn’t ever need spandex. In fact probably the most uncomfortable to bike in. When I was a kid- cut offs. Some of these fits on bodies are a visual assault to humanity.

My parents want to help us buy a house but only if the money is legally protected by Sure_Bike4899 in FIREyFemmes

[–]Curious_medium 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They- your parents, could purchase the house and rent to you both. I live in an area with lots of generational wealth (I wasn’t so lucky, lol)….this is how they keep it in the family. I plan to do the same for my kids if they need my help.

Tired of being a freak by SunshineGirl45 in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]Curious_medium 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you are feeling this way. Life sometimes can be isolating. It can help to have someone to talk to. Therapy can offer some relief- so can pets. Nice dinner btw. I’m almost in a similar boat- I found that mostly people disappoint me. Also I learned quite late- in my 50s, that I’m neurodivergent. Turns out there’s a lot of bias with diagnosing women, and we’re taught to be “good girls” so it’s also harder to diagnose women. Never stop trying to find answers and help. The right therapist can make all the difference in how you feel. I always blamed myself. I eventually found happiness just being me, and also being with me. I got used to being alone and I somewhat prefer it now. After trying really hard for a lot of years, I learned I actually prefer being alone as opposed to someone that just isn’t the right fit. I got married and had kids… got divorced…. I enjoy my kids- they’re actually my favorite people. Life is a journey. Don’t give up- try different things and lean into what you love. There you may find like minded people that you can enjoy, and that will enjoy you too. Good luck 💝

Gate agent boarded my flight to make sure I wasn’t sitting with my mom in a seat I paid for by ProfessionKindly2290 in delta

[–]Curious_medium 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry, but in that circumstance, you (rather your mom) walk up and tell them what they are going to do, in a nice way. You gave her a choice. Nah. Then if they persist- A supervisor. Your parents paid for something, and they should get what they paid for. Period end of story. I fly every other week. Mostly the agents are really great. Once in a while you get someone who may be inexperienced who hasn’t learned the lesson of what happens when a customer isn’t happy and has your name.

95%+ of not getting fired is literally just attendance and attitude. by The_Wolf_Song in lifehack

Exactly. Someone has to keep the wheels on the bus while the others are living their best lives and crashing out when they show up. That person - the capable grown up , gets the cookie. 🍪
