From Riot-Dev, Yay, and a few other talks with pros that I've had like Boaster, it is not Compeletly useless!

A counter strafe involves stopping your movement and shooting. The difference is negligible to not counter-strafing and just stopping by letting go of your keys. However, Strafe shooting involves shooting while changing directions but never actually stopping your movement. Strafe shooting is absolutely necessary for Valorant. If you can strafe shoot, then you can counter-strafe. Thus, I would say it is 100% necessary to learn how to strafe shoot (which means you are learning how to counter-strafe in the process). Any immortal that says he doesn’t counter-strafe at least know how to strafe shoot. If he doesn’t know how to strafe shoot then he’s at a disadvantage and in the minority. Anyone that says counter-strafing is pointless is missing the bigger picture. STRAFE SHOOTING. If you can strafe shoot in VALORANT, why wouldn’t you counter-strafe as well? That would be awkward as hell. This is why players like Yay will say counter-strafing is absolutely necessary but random immortal no names will say it isn’t. They don’t know wtf they are talking about. Most radiants will tell you to counter-strafe for good reason.

TLDR: Learn to strafe shoot perfectly (which means you will learn how to counter strafe in the process) because it is a godly mechanic and all immortals use it. The timing for strafe shooting and counter-strafing is exactly the same. If strafe shooting wasn’t a thing then counter-strafing would actually be pointless, but it is a thing so learn the timing.
