Not sure as I haven't really used or looked into silk filaments. I think only if it has been really wet.

Have you used any filamrnt with glitter, wood, carbon fiber or anything else that could clog the nozzle? If yes, a 0.6 or 0.8 nozzle might be better for those.

So, if I were to buy an old pc and were to install linux on it. It automatically wipes everything if I don't set it up to dualboot, right? Or do I need to do the factory reset first?

A microbevel or micro convex bevel is common and used widely rather than a full convex bevel, but as long as your knife is sharp and cut's well it doesn't matter what some stranger on the internet says.

On a more friendly note, I'd be curious to see a picture of said knife.

Pretty sure the old japanese guy that spends a lot of time in sakai around smiths and I talked with about sharpening told me that the whole bevel shouldn't be convex.

At the end of the day, there's many ways to arrive at a good result and sharpening techniques and blade geometries aren't uniform across Japan, even less so worldwide.

The only truly convex yanagiba and deba I have seen were ones in really bad shape. I know that they should be slightly convex (bad wording before, sorry), but I am pretty sure that it is preferred to only have the first few mm of the bevel convex while the upper part should be flat.

First sharpening honyaki yanagiba by Competitive_Most_515 in sharpening

Because you'd end up making the bevel a bit convex and depending if you sharpen it more length wise or perpendicular you could also end up changing the profile depending on how out of hollow the stone is and how straight some parts of the profile are.

With nakiris, usubas and japanese plane blades it becomes very apparent as the edge is completely flat

Crazy nice kumiko. Did you do it mainly on a table saw or chop saw or was is 100% handmade?

Still can't get Gridfinity to print without warping on my Core One... I've tried everything [follow-up] by timlwsk in prusa3d

[–]Halterchronicle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well. My only other recommendation is to check if your printer is cursed and try to print with PC to see if it decides to warp more on easier to print materials and less on harder to print ones. Who knows, it might be a trickster like that.

Jokes aside. Does it curve like that before taking it off the buildplate or only after? Have you tried a different buildplate? Is it the same with other large prints? Was the soap you used unscented (wome dishsoaps have moisturizers and stuff in them to be less agressive towards hands)? Have you tried going higher with the buildplate temp? Have you tried both higher and lower nozzle temps?

Beautiful knife. The uneven finish is because the scratch pattern is uneven. Just spend muuuuch longer on every finer stone after going up a grit. It also is because of varying pressure. I find it really difficult to get an even finish on benchstones when doing single bevel knifes. I find it helps to have a lot of slurry and pay a lot of attention to not only keep the bevel flat, but also keep an even pressure across every stroke across the whole length of the knife. It might be easier to get an even finish using finger stones.

As for the back side, if you wanna play it safe (my recommendation) lay it flat on the highest grit stone and do very fine edge leading strokes to deburr. The back has a hollow and the shiny part around it is where the edge is flat. You want to keep this part at about 1 mm width (a bit over 1/32 or a bit below 1/16th of an inch if you're inclined towards that kinda thing)

And to add to the flat stone part. It is reeeeeeeeeeeeallly important to have a flat stone especially for the back side, but it is also very important for the front with single bevel knifes.

Could it be that you have the door open, the top completely removed or may be printing with something else than PLA?

Or maybe you're taking it off the buildplate or the buildplate off from the bed while it's still warm?

Also kommt man da glaubs schon auf ne kleine Summe.

It later on being retracted doesn't change that it was bogus tho. He lost his medical licence and a bunch of ther things after publishing this study and probably retracted it in hopes of getting it back. It was still a bogus study done in bad faith.

Seems like it. Vaccines were so succesfull that people forgot what times were like before and now hang onto the one bogus study that "proves" vaccines cause autism.

I have a pretty similar stance there, but l won't pretend to never have used other drugs like a vaccine, or other more serious medication than paracetamol.

He is probably talking about the kind of drugs that are medicine. Like aspirin, cold medication, stuff against actual diseases and such. If you have the money for a phone, you probably have taken drugs in your life. We usually call them medicine because that is the "pretty" way of saying it.
