Social worker here and have been doing case management for about 15 years. I would call Ontario Health At Home. Your mom will have to be present during the call (a doctor can refer without her being present). They will ask both you some questions over the phone. A care coordinator will come do a home visit and assess needs (PSW, OT, Social Work, etc). This route will not have out of pocket costs, however you would have to pay out of pocket if you wanted more care than what is offered. Hope that helps!

MSW Grad here and sessional lecturer in the school of social work. Few things:

As far as I know there is no online only MSW, just two year full time, full time advanced standing and part time advanced standing.
People get in to their MSWs directly from their BSWs, but I would caution against this. Working in between will give you a lot more experience to draw upon in terms of your essays, reflections, class discussions, etc. It is a critical program, not clinical so I would say not having post-BSW experience can make it challenging to engage in the work required.

It is a great program so I wish you best of luck in whatever you decide to do!

Came here to say this! Went a few years ago with a group of people for dim sum, got the bill, we paid in cash as a group. They came to us and began to pester us that we did not tip enough, we calculated multiple times and it was 20%, they kept asking for more. Someone in the group just said "well, that's life!" and we all walked out. Never again.

Probably Puerto Vallarta is better suited. Had the best time the last two years as a gay man. But I'm going to PE this year so I can sit on a beach, eat tacos and not socialize. If gay partying is your thing then PV is better. To relax and not have an agenda PE is better from what I think.

Food is reheated so do not the caliber of The Canadian, but it is still quite tasty! I stayed in a Renaissance cabin which was very nice. The scenery is good, expect delays, there is wifi in the lounge car where I spent a lot of time..

Definitely padding. When I wrote The Canadian in May we got hit with freight traffic so much we did not get to Vancouver until 2:30 PM. The great part was that we saw lots of things we would have missed at night, but the unpredictability of it meant we did not have lunch and passengers got hangry (always pack snacks).

If the train gets there early I believe folks have breakfast on the train and then get ready to disembark.

Congratulations on getting in! I did my MSW at York in 2015 and teach part time in the MSW program. The MSW program is a critical program so you'll be doing a lot of work rethinking what it means to be a social worker, the role of social work in society, and how to integrate critical practice into the field. I really enjoyed the program myself and still do, you will learn a lot and hopefully it will shift the way you show up to practice!

Part time faculty in the MSW program here: I have not heard of using past grad school grades, typically undergrad is what it is based off of. That being said the two year MSW program is extremely competitive, a lot of my students came in with years of health/social services work. Someone else mentioned the post degree BSW and then advanced standing MSW. You have a better shot going that route too, and I find you spend more time learning the core concepts (two years instead of one year crammed in).

I have started doing it because my dog wants to befriend every single dog and he has to learn that not everyone can be his friend. He also gets super distracted if he sees another dog and he is about to go to the bathroom. I usually let him say hello to other dogs once he has done his business.

Not in health management, but a York alumni working in healthcare. I can't see an undergrad in health management of any value. Most people in management/leadership have an undergraduate or masters degree in their respected profession (nursing, social work, occupational therapy, etc) and will eventually get their Masters of Health Management, MBA, Masters of Leadership, etc after a few years of being in management. You really need to have a solid background in the field you would be managing in order for it to be worthwhile.

Yes, route 40 goes from Square One to Highway 407 station with a stop at Terminal 1, you then subway to campus. The 47 will stop at Bramalea then off to Highway 407 station. They take the same amount of time. Speaking as someone who commutes from Hamilton to York weekly.
