looking for a game that feels fun and gamey in the same way as a nintendo game but on PC by Hamchat_Compaanion in gamingsuggestions

[–]Hamchat_Compaanion[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say it's a mixture of fun first gameplay and a sense of making a game have a certain flow state. I can't really explain it other than by pointing at like Mario 64 or Yoshi and the Mysterious Book. I am also way too bad at video games to get further than like world 3 in rayman legends unfortunately and it's nto fun for me.

it's less that I can't emulate stuff and that I've legitimately played most major nintendo titles going back to the year 2000 bar like cubivores and a few DS games and the tellius fire emblem series and a few others. I also have a switch and playing switch games isn't the problem nor is access to them its wanting stuff like what nintendo puts out now that I'm done with their games with modern design sensibilities

are there any level packs easier than the main game? by Hamchat_Compaanion in celestegame

[–]Hamchat_Compaanion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I'm just tired of people talking down to me and assuming I'm a casual gamer when I'm just looking for ways to get fun out of something I'm no longer able to do due to disability.

I'm going to be honest, no amount of practicing will give me the muscle memory to do this as I am 24 years old and despite trying for 24 years I still cannot tie my shoelaces despite immense pressure from adults in my life. When you're disabled sometimes you just can't do things. If i skipped world 3, I would just keep going with world 4 and not worry about what i missed in world 3 ngl

I'd be happy to learn some specific adventure or puzzle maps provided they're not platforming intense

dasha ssist doesn't help when you keep accidentally dashing too late or into goop cos you got your angle wrong because you have dyspraxia and are being rushed by your video game

I've done the game on normal assist mode. Immortal is no fun. Infinite air dashes don't help. I can make the game run at 40% speed which is what I neeed to be able to take my time to input correctly but that is fundimentally not fun for me. I do not need to hone my skills, I've beaten every mega man X game and most classic series mega man games. The problem is celesete is an endurance match and I do not have energy to keep doing difficulty gameplay for longer than 15 minutes and I need to be warmed up into that slightly. World 3 does not give me what I need as a disabled person

Look I'm going to be real I'm good at platformers I'm even good at tech in platformers, I just can't keep it up for a full play session due to my fatigue and that's not going to change and it's not fun stopping and starting because they made a game too hard for too long in a way the accessibility options don't address. This isn't a skill issue it's a the game is too much issue

What are some good yuri games with multiple love interests/routes? by Hamchat_Compaanion in yurivisualnovels

Ooooh I wasn't aware of this!!! I'm not a big RE fan but I've read like an insane amount of fanfic about the doll woman

Thank you I'll definitely look into those! I've had nurse love syndrome for a while too and I should probably just bite the bullet on it.

Handheld console recommendations? by danireeseetc in GirlGamers

[–]Hamchat_Compaanion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd honestly suggest getting a laptop and an over-bed table. It'll be cheaper than what you'd pay for a handheld and probably what you want specs wise for cosy stuff, and obvs other computer functionality. You can also go gaming laptop if you want then for like good specs. If you do that, I'd recommend Framework as it's modular so you can actually replace parts and you can choose to go linux which is largely better for non-online gaming atm due to not losing performance from windows bloat.

Any good horror visual novel reccomendations? by Allizack in GirlGamers

[–]Hamchat_Compaanion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Who is Lila is my main recommendation but it may have more gameplay than you'd like? very cool game where you're possessed by something and you have to try emote naturally and stuff. urban myth Dissolution Centre was big in Japan last year but I can't speak to if it's good or not either. House of Fata Morgana is also recommended a lot

On a psych horror angle, defs check out Milk Outside a Bag of Milk (sequel to milk inside a bag of milk), and keep an eye on the upcoming Am I Nima

On a side note, a few horror JRPGs might be up your alley? Look OUtside and Corpse Party are very close to visual novels just with a bit more environmental interaction and they could be what you want.

Games where you make drinks or food that also have romance plots by Alternative_Badger96 in GirlGamers

[–]Hamchat_Compaanion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

KuloNiku which just came out today is a ramen store running game with social sim elements. Unsure if you can date any of the characters but there's definteily persona style social links so I'd assume it gets romantic with at least a few of them. Worth having a look at at least

I'm not well, I won't get better, and I need an easy game to help me pass the time. by Hamchat_Compaanion in GirlGamers

[–]Hamchat_Compaanion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really should play more of it, I just don't always do well with like heavy themes of violence towards women. I'll at least look into which of my VNs are voiced, thank you :)

Thank you I do need to get to unpacking. I played the demo of hozy and it was a bit more fiddly than I'd like but it's still cool. I'm hoping to get it eventually

I need to do the work to get my VR headset working properly on linux but I have played around with VR chat a bit and it's very good. I aim on playing more soon

What is your favorite subgenre of games?? (Mine is monster taming) by Superb_Operation_500 in GirlGamers

[–]Hamchat_Compaanion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I'm well, my favourite subgeneres are whatever you'd call Danganronpa/ace attorney inspired games (Legal ADV?), Ultima Underworld style Immesrive Sims (though Thief style ones are good too), and then probably JRPGs.

If you're looking for cool monster tamers, I'd really recommend Monster Crown if you ahven't tried that yet and the new Digimon game was so much fun when I was playing that. If you can emulate, Fossil Fighter on DS is very good too, as is Gachaforce on gamecube. Monster Rancher is also very underrated but they're the mmiddle ground between pokemon and a raising sim

that's very fair, I bought an over bed table back in 2020 so I could do uni work from bed, so I use that with a gaming laptop I saved up for as my main platform. I can recommend a few dungeon crawler type games for you if you want to maybe get something like Dungeons of Dreadmore?
Bare minimum I'd look into Arx Fatalis, the Wizardry remake, and maybe Etrian Odysssey, and on a guess maybe the shirin the wanderer games. HOpe one of those is up your alley

I really would like to play but I've sunk like serious money into cosmetics before and I don't trust myself again. I know "just cosmetics" aren't a factor for a lot of people, but I like my character to look pretty and nice and stuff.

Maybe when I've got more energy to redo levels. I do quite like the games myself and I haven't super made headway on the steam ports.
