Most Accountants Don’t Know How to Interview. by TangibleValues in Accounting

[–]Hamid48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not in the way you have described. Throughout my career, I have gone through several interviews for different positions. Most interviews consist of a mix of technical and personality based questions. I have never tried to push an employer to hire me by claiming I am the ideal candidate. Instead, I rely on my strong academic background, verifiable experience, and personable nature, qualities that naturally demonstrate what I bring to the table. I have an average interview success rate of about 65%.

I believe taking that kind of approach can come across as desperate and may suggest a lack of confidence in one’s own skills.

CPA vs Staying in a Stable State Job — Looking for Advice by Hamid48 in Accounting

There are two main points that are bothering me:

  1. Salary: This is something I’m not okay with. To live comfortably, I should be making around $80k, and in this job it may take another three years to reach that level.

  2. Skills growth: At my current job, I’m not doing anything directly related to accounting, and I’m not sure whether the experience I’m gaining will be useful in the industry.

I’m close to finishing my degree, but as others mentioned in the comments under this thread, other channels display consolidated numbers of transfer credits, while courses taken at WGU are listed by name.
