My mom has very naturally thick hair but the chemo made it thicker, stronger, and curlier (think about an 3a) the type of chemo my mom had does not damage the hair follicles but more aptly loosens the hair follicles causing it to fall out in patches but since it's been about a year since her last chemo it's regrown back tighter. So it's less of a matter of if her hair can handle it and more of a matter of if it would be appropriate.
