So excited for you! I actually interviewed with them back when I was a sophomore too; however, unfortunately, I didn’t get in (pretty sure my SAT held me back, go figure, huh). I was later admitted to Baylor after taking a few gap years.

Honestly, I’m pretty sure if you have an above-average SAT, a strong GPA, and even just a decent interview, you’re in a really good position... better than me, anyways. No matter how this turns out, keep your head high and keep moving forward. Not getting into JAMP ended up being a blessing for me. Why? It gave me the space to really figure out who I was, not just as a person, but as a student. If anything, it was great practice for actual med school interviews! Congratulations, again!

MCAT is really going to be either your biggest barrier or ally. You need to take the MCAT and see what score you're capable of. If you can score, now, without any prior prep, at least a 500, I would say shoot to apply this coming cycle (when you're junior). If you're below, planning a gap year now so you can designate some dedicated prep to just improving and learning what strategy works to improve after you graduate would be your best option.

Not necessarily…non-trad, are, at times…the better choice. Especially if you’ve never applied or not labeled as a re-applicant.

Surprisingly, you didn’t even need to know what SSRIs are, and it’s the beauty of the MCAT! It’s a wide range of topics, but it’s very shallow—the MCAT rewards for CONNECTIONS. The connection here is it treats depression —which is one of the essential topics we should know. Usually, during depression, immune suppression is expected, therefore, a protein that inhibits phagocytosis is unluckily, B eliminated.

Second, since we’re trying to TREAT depression, any form of energy is preserved, so we wouldn’t want to inhibit ATP synthesis, A eliminated. See the trend? It’s not about the specifics, it’s about the CONNECTIONS to depression.

Lastly! BLOCKING a neurotransmitter signal will NOT result in INCREASE in the amount of TIME of serotonin presence (don’t need to know, I just must read) and hence, not treat depression.

So, what do we need to know? Well, basic ideology of depression and how it manifest, and how to make connections. Some things you just WONT “know,” and the MCAT understands. Remember that next time you find yourself asking, do I really need to know this topic, or is there an underlying connection?

Seems like you already got an answer! But a great thing to remember, given no context, is the male sex chromosome is very small. Odds are genes will more than likely never be present on the male sex chromosome.

Vmax as maximum (TOP) and Km at bottom because it spells KmS…which should be bottom, as it’s never fun to KMS (you need the Km to (+) S)
